They also act as a squeezable stress reliever. You know how I feel about form+function in design work.. ♥♥♥ --- Diana Lin Design wants to give people not only physical experiences with products, but also emotional experiences. We produce innovative products that bring happiness and joy to people. Instead of creating products that just sit somewhere and just look good; we want to create products that encourage interaction. We want to inspire people to touch, feel and play with everyday objects. The soft and squeezable nature of silicone provides just what we need! When you squeeze the silicone bubbles, you can feel the pressure of the air inside and also hear the sound of the air coming out. It provides the experiences for not only sight, but also touch and auditory. The d°light bubbles let people put their creative minds to work! You can hang them on a hook, lay them down on the floor, bunch them up on your bed…etc. The possibilities are endless! Each relationship between the user and d°light is unique. So HOW will you d°light? The d°light bubbles could also be used as a stress release object. Instead of a little stress squeeze ball, you will have 12 silicone bubbles to squeeze and release all your daily stresses! -provides a soft ambient lighting to any room in the house: Living room, study room or bedside table. -the silicone bubble LED is soft, cool to touch and squeezable. -users can create different ambience by squeezing the silicone bubbles to make a concaved shape in the bubble. Dimension: Total length laid out approx. 10ft. Each bubble size 5” x 3-1/2” Materials: Warm-white LED, American standard food-safe silicone, and 5 volt AC/DC adapter. LEDs should last for more 100,000 hours.

The case is solid stainless steel and is water-resistant to 100ft. It is is available with either a matching stitched leather band or stainless steel band. Live in the present. That’s what we strive to do. This unique timepiece beautifully reminds you that “there’s no time like the present.” You only see the present time: what’s past is past. The future doesn’t exist yet. The time is now. At once coolly minimal and warmly conceptual, Past Present, Future is a meditation on time. Past, Present Future is designed by Daniel Will-Harris, a pioneer in computer graphics and the web.

Like the planets tracing their various orbits around the Sun, the rings on this watch each move with different rotational speeds to indicate the time. The planets trace rings around the Sun, each one completing a full orbit in a different amount of time in relation to its distance from the Sun. Our most important measurement of time, the year, is based on this full rotation around the Sun. In fact, all our major units of time (day, month, year) are based on different rotation periods. The three concentric circles rotate clockwise with each gap in the circle communicating the precise time. The hour, minute and seconds are defined by the outer, middle and inner rings respectively. The diameter is 33 mm.

Say goodbye to your tacky-ass space heaters, ya'll! Bio-fuels, also known as bio-alcohol or bio-ethanol, are colorless, clear liquids that burn without residue, smoke or odor, making them most suitable for fireplaces that require no special venting. Carl Mertens of Germany has produced a tabletop fireplace called the Apollo that burns bio-alcohol and would grace any home with its simple, but superbly crafted design. This item has all the makings of becoming a classic, it is not only as innovative as it is beautiful and useful, it also improves the quality of life of those who experience it. Useful, but also simple to use: Simply fill the holding tank about three-quarters full, slide the lids fully open and light with a long handled lighter or match. Allow to burn for a minute or two in the fully opened position, then regulate the flame to desire size by closing the lid partially. The unit will emit light and warmth, but is safe to place on virtually any surface. Wipe the unit clean after use. The Apollo is terrific for creating a romantic and warm ambiance in any room. Burn time is 3-4 hours. 13.8" long, 11.0" high, 4.7" wide.

Color changes due to heat-sensitive pigment. At plain sight it is a standard black mug as they come a dime a dozen and in big white letters it say COLD. Nothing fancy, but once you add the hot beverage of your choice, the mug changes color and is turning white and in big black letters it states: HOT. As your drink cools down, it slowly reverts back to black, giving you ample warning to not take that last, dreaded cold sip. The color changes due to heat-sensitive pigment.

I have a love/hate relationship with Yanko Design's site. I love that they serve up a dazzling array of great products that make me literally bounce up and down in my chair and emit disturbing little "yip yip yip" noises. I hate the fact that some of the ones that bring me closest to retail ecstasy are only concepts. Sigh. This mechanical midget butler-wannabe is one of those. Just imagine: your alarm sounds and you roll over to find not a wad of bills left on the table from your guest the night before but your CHOICE of coffee, juice or hot chocolate AND TOAST! Yes, TOAST! And if you know me, you know I love me some toast. But alas, until this concept becomes a reality I will leave my ad in the paper for "vertically challenged mini-man to serve as morning butler. Some back-scratching required. Must wear gloves. Stumpy fingers creep me out."

Big Eye Needle is an ordinary loop-eye sewing needle except it’s made of some new fangled metal. Blast those blonde moments sky-high.... from Yanko: Fireworks Help Find Your Car Every time I get out of a car I yell to my friends the exact floor, side, and column it’s located on. Two hours later we’re all wandering around trying to find it. Constantly clicking the remote keyless entry doesn’t help unless you’re within audible distance. I need something bigger, something I can’t miss. How about fireworks? The Fireworks Locator system by futurist with a sense of humor Mac Funamizu uses holographic projection technology to set off a display of lights and color you can’t miss. A remote activates an emitter installed on the top of your vehicle. That’s pretty much it. Feasibility aside, I could totally see Honda using this idea in one of their future ads. Imagine hundreds of Hondas creating an unforgettable light show.

Yummy, buttery, toast made in an environmentally friendly way.... what a sexy concept. Another amazing concept design from the Yanko Site: Toaster With Looks That Kill The Nahamer T450 is the first environmentally sustainable toaster. It is 20% faster and uses half the energy of a standard 900W toaster by having close-proximity low-temperature heating elements. If only one slice of bread it inserted then only one side of the toaster is turned on. It is also designed to be repaired if broken and disassembled at the end of its useful life. The window allows you to monitor the brownness of your toast and the Toast Drop system slides your toast straight onto a plate, ready to be eaten. It also features intuitive browning controls and turns on automatically when the front is closed. Designer: Rob Penny

Another amazing concept design from the Yanko Site: An Urban Oasis OASIS is a water purifier, air purifier, and humidifier all in one. The idea loosely biomimics how nature cleans, recycles, and balances air and water. Water is naturally filtered into clean drinking water. Whatever you don’t drink is given to the plant which in turn cleans the air and balances humidity. The concept is a bit esoteric but if you break it down to its simplest form, it’s quite clever. Presenting the best way to get lost in a walking stick. The GeoCane by Felix Hardmood Beck takes the idea of a divining rod and finds you some great adventure in the great hiking pilgrimage. Stamping the ground creates a path that noone else has followed, creating a unique experience for you, the final and last one true highlander. Designer Felix Hardmood Beck puts it like this: “The goal of this project was to translate the central aspects and values of the pilgrimage into a digital object – a new interpretation of the traditional walking-cane: The GeoCane. This new cane shows various references to the historic and modern pilgrimage, as well as historic and modern forms of navigation. By using the GeoCane, the user receives a new understanding of the historic identity of pilgrimage. “Geographical coordinates for a specific goal are loaded onto the GeoCane through a docking-station. Throughout the Neo-Pilgrimage an integrated microchip traces the chosen path, so that you are never guided on an already known road. By a slight vibration at grasping hight, the cane leads the way for the user. The place of destination remains unknown for the user and is not of such great importance as the path in itself.” Heigh Ho! Designer: Felix Hardmood Beck

Another amazing concept design from the Yanko Site: Space Age Seating Roller Coaster Style Hankering for that roller coaster ride feeling? Live vicariously thru the 4NE1 (get it?) seating solution. These chairs are suspended from the roof of a vehicle. This reconfiguration increases the amount of interior space. The design was created with the elderly and physically impaired in mind but as its name suggests, anyone can use it. The design has excellent properties for impact absorption in both front and rear impacts. The safety system is further augmented by an anti-whiplash backrest that comes forward upon impact. Best part it the stowaway feature - neatly sliding up and down roof rails or folding up when you need to seat more cargo than people. A review of current products that cater to this demographic has revealed that although there are systems in place to accommodate wheelchairs within vehicles, many of these systems do not use space efficiently, are not cost effective, lack configurability and are often created with the removal and replacement of original seating. This system is completely innovative and takes a whole new look at how we perceive space within a vehicle. Concerns have been raised about structural strength within the roof , but with structural reinforcement at little added cost - there is no reason why a roof cannot support the 24G crash impact requirements. Even the build materials are innovative. The seats will be made from a patent-pending lightweight fibre-composite developed by Futuris Automotive, which has superb structural properties. What does this all mean for you? You may never see something like this in ordinary cars but don’t be surprised when they start popping up in mass transit systems. We like the idea but what about fat people? This doesn’t exactly make travel any easier for them. Designer: Christopher Simmons

People are really starting to use their brains to help the environment ( And not just saying they are). We all know alkaline batteries are really bad for the environment if you don’t dispose of them properly. The right thing to do is send them to special recycling centers but hundreds of tons end up in landfills where their toxic innards seep into the earth. Perhaps a good solution is the Energy Seed, an LED lamp post powered by trashed alkaline batteries. The idea is to encourage people to throw their batteries away into the Energy Seed. There’s a slot for nearly every size battery. The unit combines any left over juice from all the batteries to power a super efficient LED ring. Of course once the bins are full, we’re left with the same original problem. Somebody has to collect all those spent batteries and recycle them.

But then how will I cheer myself up at other people's expense? From the site: Ticker Tape Only Feeds Good News Ticker Tape is an internet radio for people who suffer from Euphobia, “a persistent, abnormal and unwanted fear of hearing good news”. Using RSS feeds, Ticker Tape scans for light-hearted news stories from around the world broadcasting them to the listener who can manage the content via the Ticker Tape website. Pulling the cord allows the listener to choose the duration of the broadcast. The origin of the news stories can be selected by turning the dial - old school style with a web 2.0 twist. The original intent of the project was to help cure a phobia, it can also be used to create more insightful solutions for interactive technology. Changing one’s mindset as a designer and moving away from market-driven designs and thinking about solutions from a completely different perspective, can encourage new interactions and designs to emerge. This project explores new interfaces for the future of digital radio and is part of wider ongoing research.

As long as it doesn't let people know when my mood is M&M Green. From Yanko: This is going to get a little hippie and spiritual so hold on. It’s common to focus on emotions while ignoring or having any awareness of what that goes on inside our body. This lack of understanding between the two can lead to health problems, for serious. So if we could keep track of how our emotions and bodies relate, what would that look like? This portable device lets the wearer express emotions with colors by correlating them with biometric data. The idea is to create another way to externalize how we feel in a language anyone can understand. Someone walking down the street with flash red might be upset, in a hurry, or angry. A computer keeps track of your colors, sort of a diary of emotions that can be turned into choreographed motion graphic pieces. It’s an esoteric concept but one grounded in scientifically proven models. We all react to colors and in most cases, can assign specific colors to a range of human emotions. I’d love to see this concept come to fruition. Designer: Sara Forsmark
