Buster Cube Behavioral Toy (large)
First to recommend
Description
Many dogs do not get the opportunity to use their natural instinct for mental exercise. Mental stimulation not only provides a fuller life for our canine companions, but it is also vital in the prevention of almost all behavioral problems. A contented dog often means a happier owner.
Today, most dogs live solely as companions and very few are offered the opportunity to carry out the tasks of tracking, hunting, and herding that breeds were originally developed for. There is no question about the love that dog owners have for their pups, but many owners just don't have the available space and/or time to provide this level of stimulation.
Many dogs are indoor, and indoor activities are not that interesting for these canine creatures. A bored dog usually lies down in one particular spot where he/she can watch us in hopes for something exiting like feeding time, play time or walk time. These are often the MOST exciting events in a dog’s life. How fair is that? The more a dog rests and watches, the more pent up energy he has. If this energy is not used, it usually results in various behavioral disorders such as chewing, jumping, barking, and aggression.
This toy helps to address three levels of a dog's natural abilities; problem solving, sense of smell and mental stimulation. But don't become frustrated if your pooch doesn't immediately play with the Buster Cube. You have to interact with your dog and the toy together the first few times to get him interested. A dog imitates its Alpha dog and pack mates...which is where we humans fall in the hierarchy. If we show interest in the toy, often they will do the same.
So, get your dog's mental juices pumping!! It will help improve your relationship with your dog, and keep him active and avoid or decrease behavioral problems. (via Alien Ally, LLC)

I'm in my senior year...almost done with my BA in international business and NOW I find this amazing site. It figures.
Well, it's worth it, and I swore I would pass around this info AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE because it's really a great idea.
You pick the book you need, pick how long you need it for, and then RENT it for WAY less than half the retail price.
Just make sure you don't trash the book and when you return it everything will be fine.
Oh and they send you a link when it's time to return the book so you can print off the PAID FOR shipping label.
SO EASY.
OH, and did I mention they PLANT A TREE for every book you rent?????
YEA!
You can also sell back select old text books so they can rent them out.
I heart Chegg.

I'm one of those crazy people that occasionally stay up late watching infomercials. If a have a cocktail or two, I'll even place an order. More often or not I end up mad that I made the purchase and the useless product ends up taking up space until I finally drop it in a donation box.
BUT...yes, I said BUT...every once in a blue moon I find something truly wonderful.
Remember the old Temperpedic commercials? The ones where they promise to send a piece of the "space age" temper material? Ya, I ordered that info-pack. Best idea EVER. I now own a Temperpedic bed and I LOVE IT.
Another winner was the One Sweep. It works great on hardwood floors, especially when cleaning up cat litter. I had one too many whiskey & Cokes that night...but I ended up with more than a headache :) Yay.
This may just be the next big, wonderful purchase. Now by big I mean BIG...not size wise. The Save A Blade isn't big at all. Now, mind you, I did just buy this last night and I've only used it once. It may break the next time around, but I did renew my razor, my partners AND my roommates. Not bad for a $20 contraption.
My only peeve is that it's made in China. Not crazy about that...
BUT... if it saves me having to buy razors ALL THE TIME...even if it makes my razors last one week longer...it's worth it.
Razors are SO expensive and such a waste...but I'm SO not ready to be a hairy hippie.

I just started a TNR (trap, neuter, return) program. It's a proven method to manage feral cat numbers, humanely, avoiding euthanasia and ridding the neighborhood of problem behavior associated with breeding feral cat colonies (yowling, spraying and destroying property).
It cost me $50 bucks and some spare time, and soon I'll have a certificate and be eligible for low cost spay and neuter programs! Not to mention it's a great way to get a community involved and working together for a greater good!
There are all kinds of different programs available, from community leadership to duck egg addling. You choose the cause and they help you get certified to make a difference!!! (via HSU)

Laugh all you want, I trained two of my cats (brother and sister) to use the toilet. Yes, it was a pain in the you-know-what...but boy was it great.
I ended up moving them back to a litter box when I moved into a bigger place.
Too bad you can't teach them to relate "going" with "flushing". Most cats just flush because they think it's cool.
So the whole -two cats pooping in a toilet with no one flushing- can be a bit much.
But trust me, it can be done :) (via Alien Ally, LLC)

I did ALL my holiday shopping at this one site and received more compliments than any other year EVER!!!!
What does that say? It says that donation gifts are the new hot thing, but even better, they're wonderful, thoughtful, and SUSTAINABLE!! Yay.
They have different ways of donating. The way I chose cost me a few more dollars, but it ensured that the gift was personalized and fantastic.
I went to the gifts section and chose from 1,5000 different "causes" to donate to. It helps to know the people you're giving the gift to, because you are more able to personalize it. Then I chose a card and added a personal greeting. It was sent to the recipients house and voila!!!
The Perfect Gift.
A Priceless Gift.
There are so many to choose from! Animals, environment, children, homelessness, hunger....on and on!
And they cost from $5 - $9,999...so you can spend as much or as little as you want!
Please check out this site. You won't regret it!!!! (via Changing the Present)

For those of you who may have seen my cat treat recommendation, here’s one for you dog lovers out there!!!
Have a little spare time on your hands? Feel like making your own dog treats?
This book is packed with fun ideas for tasty dog treats. The best part (in my opinion) is that you control the ingredients! You know what's going in to the treats and you can make them as healthy as you like. Plus if your dog is finicky, then you can add or subtract ingredients based on your dog's taste preferences. Also great for dogs with allergies because you can leave out those pesky allergens that make your pup sick!!
You won't be disappointed with this!!! (via Alien Ally, LLC)

Are you a dog owner that leaves the TV on for your pup?? Well, if you think he/she watches it, why not try some extra training?
My neighbor purchased this video and swears by it. She has a little Jack Russell who is VERY energetic. He wasn't as well trained as she would have liked. She asked if I had any recommendations for a dog owner who didn't have a whole lot of time available for training. I wasn't sure if it would work but she did say that she didn't like leaving him in a quiet house all day, so she left the TV on for him. I don't recommend that because it's not very eco friendly. I recommend setting the TV / DVD player to come on at a certain time and turn off after the DVD is done playing.
This video teaches simple commands such as sit and stay. I haven't seen it myself so I'm not sure of the content. If nothing else it can keep an overactive pooch from chewing on your furniture when you're not home!!! (via Alien Ally, LLC)
