Description
Intelligentsia does direct trade coffee... like a souped-up fair trade coffee where growers get 25% more for their beans than fair trade certification provides and where buyers visit the farms.
But let's be honest: none of this would amount to a hill of beans if their coffee weren't over-the-top fabulous, which it is.
Also, I'm mad about their packaging.

This is it: Our coffee. We may stray, but we always return to Groundwork's Black Gold. It's made locally, organic and rich enough to warrant its name.

You have to give the guy credit: channeled a wicked caffeine addiction and fame into a green side business. He's like a weirder Paul Newman.

Description
Arrowhead spring water home delivery is genius: It's tasty, doesn't need to be flown halfway around the world to L.A. and automatically shows up every month at our house. And do you really think all those little plastic bottles you use are getting recycled?
... All for $1 a day. I'm betting that's way less than you spend on water right now.

Recently over coffee a green pal looked at my regular old notebook, said, "We have to live it," and whipped out her recycled notebook. She was right. And these cute notebooks make it easy to take her (and our own) advice. (via Delight Store)

Description
Plastic grass. My landscape architect pal swears by this stuff: no watering, wears well, animals love it (and stay cleaner). "Premium" is what you should get for your house... the other stuff's for playgrounds and office parks. We're seriously considering... Stop laughing. Plastic grass is way cooler than watering a lawn during a the perpetual drought that besieges L.A. And, hey, if we ever get a true rainy season, no mud. How jealous are you going to be then?

I desperately want this for the backyard. It's like the ultimate pinwheel... and when those Venice Beach onshores get rolling every day, mama's makin' energy!
It kind of blows my mind (no pun intended... fine, pun intended) that individual households can have their own wind power. (via kayzee)

So dorky it's cool. It's wool... which is eco and comfortable. If I were a better friend, I would buy this for my pal Sean who has the gumption to mountain bike regularly in Los Angeles (meaning, he drives as much as he rides). Maybe I'm just jealous because all I do is pedal my '74 Schwinn up the beach to work. (via otisrubottom)

Diligently toting one's Envirosax to the farmer's market only to fill them with plastic bags sort of defeats the purpose, don't you think? Love these bags as a solution. (via Delight Store)

Description
Bamboo?! Who knew?! EcoKashmere from Jonano is luxe, thick and, with a hint of Lycra, it's ultraflattering. When I first tried on this dress, which has a tie neck, I cracked off about six ways to wear and tie it, from skirt to halter to strapless... incredible. Would be perfect for travel. Really, really low cut. Really, really sexy. I might want to go with a little ballet shrug over it for mixed company. (via Green Girl Guide)

I feel guilty using these and claiming that the reason relates to my saving the planet. Really, these waterproof, reusable, tough grocery bags keep coming with me to the grocery store is that I can't resist accessorizing my hunting and gathering. I suppose it doesn't hurt to not toss all those nasty plastic bags.
