I do a fortnightly podcast using this mic. It is SUPERB! The sound quality is excellent - it's so easy I've taught total technophobes how to use it over the phone. I cannot praise it enough.

Gorillapod

40 people recommended this item

Description

The Gorillapod is a small, flexible tripod for your camera. Each leg can bend and hold its position independently of another. This means you can use the Gorillapod as a regular mini tripod, but you can also wrap its legs around a post, tree, railing, or any similar thing nearby.

I fell in love with the concept of the Gorillapod when I saw it online. Shortly thereafter, I saw it in person at the camera store. They had two different sizes sitting out on the counter. I picked one up and couldn't put it down. The legs are rubber, sturdy and bend easily, but hold their position properly. (They're fun to play with, too!) The top of the tripod has a removeable attachment that screws into the bottom of your camera, allowing you to clip it in and out of the Gorillapod without having to fiddle with a screw every single time. The clip also makes sure the camera doesn't accidentally fall out.

I have a compact digital camera. The appropriate Gorillapod is quite small and light. I was briefly concerned that the Gorillapod would slip or slide once it was attached to something with my camera on top, but tests at home were effective in showing that as long as I wrapped it around something tightly, the camera would not fall.

Joby makes the Gorillapod in three different sizes. Make sure you choose the one appropriate to your camera!

All in all, I love the Gorillapod. I'm finding a variety of uses for it, both in my macro photography and when I want to take pictures that include myself and others. It was definitely worth the buy.

This is not like any other book you've read. It's like a pseudo-victorian catalogue of science fiction weaponry. Utterly magic. Perfect present for that weird friend who has everything! (via Weta Workshop)
