Last year for Christmas my youngest gave me two spice grinders: a black one for coffee and a white one for spices so they don't get mixed up. I use them all the time.

Epazote is one of my favorite spices. It's very prevalent in Mexican cooking and is usually paired with tomatillos and onions but you won’t find it in a traditional supermarket.

Crate and Barrel Table Linens

Description

You can bargain hunt and mix and match with whatever you might find at Marshall’s on a particular day, or go to Crate and Barrel when you want a “sure thing.” I like the quality and the range of styles at Crate and Barrel. My tastes vary from romantic and classic to bright and festive.

Williams-Sonoma Alhambra Bowl

I don’t necessarily have one favorite type of serving platter, my tastes range from modern and white, like Pillyvuyt, to Mediterranean, like this Alhambra bowl at Williams Sonoma.

You should always choose one that is large enough to hold whatever is being presented and still have enough of a rim to show off the platter itself – there should be harmony between the color, shape and size of the platter and the food.

Marquis by Waterford "Vintage" Margarita Pitcher

You always can use pretty stemware. One of my favorite cocktails is the margarita; this pitcher and glass set from Waterford is both elegant and functional.

I often shop at Home Goods (www.homegoods.com) stores as they have a wide variety of stemware.

Garland Stoves

Description

Vintage Garland stoves are tough to find but I’ve seen listings on www.ebay.com and www.craigslist.com; you can find contemporary models at www.garland-group.com These are commercial grade stoves that are very powerful and long-lasting.

Fine chocolate by Elizabeth Montes to end the meal. Elizabeth is an incredibly talented chocolatier who uses the pristine ingredients that reflect her Latin heritage. Not only are they beautiful, handmade works of art, they are a delight to the palate.
