Description
I've always liked these headphones, particularly the one with the pistachio colored phones and the pink headband. However, I see no reason to buy headphones since I no longer have a downstairs housemate. On the other hand, if you really want people to be aware of the fact that you're listening to music and not available for chit chat, wear these in public. Apparently it's a new trend. Maybe I should try it since the people of the small town in which I currently reside don't recognize the white wires of my earbuds as a sign of anti-social behavior.

WeSC Oboe Headphones

Description
Apparently, WeSC didn't think the public was getting the message about the superlative quality of these headphones so they named them after the oboe, the best instrument in the orchestra. THE BEST. Can these headphones possibly live up to the greatness embodied in the oboe--the greatness recognized by Beethoven and Tchaikovsky? Probably not, but even if they fall short they'll still be some damn high quality headphones.

I've already told you about the sense of transport I experience when I hear go-go music so just imagine how much I enjoy Wale's "Back In the Go-Go." I can't wait to hear what else he comes out with. (He also raps on my current anthem, "Rising Up").

I can't say enough good things about Esthero. I've seen her live and she's magnificent. She has a fantastic, rich, powerful voice and she actually has something to say with her lyrics. This album contains the anthem, "We R in Need of a Musical Revolution," where she calls out the radio industry's complicity in bringing us crap "artists" like Ashanti.

The Roots Rising Down

Description
According to the New York Times this album is, "the most potent Roots release since the one-two punch of “Things Fall Apart” and its predecessor, “Illadelph Halflife” (Geffen).
I can't speak to that yet as I haven't heard this album, but I do know that the song, "Rising Up," could very well be my anthem. There's a strong go-go character to this song that reminds of the go-go music that seemed particular to the D.C./Virginia when I was growing up in the happier and more fruitful days of 90's hip-hop. The hook speaks directly to my attitude about radio for more than a decade:
"Yesterday I saw a b-girl crying.
I walked up and asked what's wrong.
She told me the radio's been playing the same song all day long. "

Description
I'm listening to this album as I write and loving it! This is my first encounter with Sia and I think it's one of those soundtrack-of-your-life type of albums. It's moody: including down tempo songs with soaring instrumentals and rocking upbeat numbers, it covers all of the emotional bases. Lovelorn. Pissed off/breaking up. Burned out. Hopeful. It's all there and it all sounds great.

Jackie Chan said that listening to country music helped him learn English so this is how I plan to learn French. Just kidding. But I do think that it will spark my interest in la lengue d'amour once again to have an album full of head-nodding tunes en français. Of course, you need no aspirations of speaking French to like Yelle--the bright, bouncy beats of cutesy rap and dance pop speak for itself.

Description
There is no reason for you not to have this album. Amazon is selling the MP3 album for $5.00 which is so cheap it's insulting to Gnarls Barkley. I guess they're trying to get into the pockets of the philistines who want Danger Mouse and Cee-lo to reproduce "St. Elsewhere." I don't know how these people even enjoy music. Limited imagination and taste notwithstanding, this is a really good album. It lacks an utterly transcendent single like, "Crazy," but I have five songs on constant rotation which is about the same number I really liked from "St. Elsewhere."
"The Odd Couple" definitely has a tighter sound and concept as a whole. The Sixties run rampant in its sound, but some people prefer that to eclecticism. Personally, I like a good hodge podge. Either way, I find Gnarls Barkley engaging.

This EP is nothing but various mixes of the song "Pro Nails," (which I love) with an additional single named "Switch Board" so I advise you to scour the Internets for "Damn Girl" and a collaboration she did called, "Beeper." Those songs are so hot! She is definitely an artist to watch out for and, personally, the idea of a formidable female MC makes my heart sing. That's exactly what the game's been missing--estrogen!
