Born and raised in Manhattan, Gretchen's love affair with jewelry began at the age of six when she created earrings from construction paper and scotch tape.
Attending boarding school in Westchester, New York as a teenager, Gretchen designed earrings and sold them to friends in the dorm so she could sneak into the city on weekends.
After graduation from Syracuse University, Gretchen worked at Christie's Auction House where she loved hanging out in the jewelry department.
After moving to Florida, Gretchen launched Alter Designs selling her jewelry,belts & accessories to boutiques across the country.
Today, Gretchen's designs have been seen on the pages of numerous magazines and have graced women throughout the country.
