I've seen this film 3-4x... it's amazing that they got it made/past the censors. Psychologically more powerful than The Manchurian Candidate. (via John_and_Rose)

The Bonds of the 80's and 90's opened the doorway for unbealvable adrenaline feuled action movies but kept the audiance and loyal Bond fans at a distance from the 007 story, Casino Royale dosn't make this mistake. Casino Royale is the Bond movie I've been waiting for, Bond is Back. (via calobee)

Yama moto yama Original Iced Green Tea (UN-sweetened)

I love iced green tea, but I don't have time to brew it and chill it. These packets are *ground* tea leaves and you simply mix the powered leaves into ice cold water and you have a seriously good alternative to diet coke. For those of you following your pal Jason on the beverage trail you now have Green Vibrance and YomoMotoYama on your daily list...
green tea is good for you and I'm told that you get more tea and good stuff in this than brewed tea. Drink more. :-)

I am very glad to see that Jason recommended this book. It's shocking to me how few people are aware that this atrocity even took place, and it by all means needs to be known. I found Iris Chang's book extremely moving and at many times found it almost hard to process that these events really happened and that somehow this genocide was allowed to be forgotten.
May Iris rest in peace...

DIRECTV HD

Note: I'm giving this the notthisnext tag... I can't recommend it right now.
I bought the Samsung 46" 1080p LCD a couple of weeks ago and I was of course very depressed after getting it that I had no HD signals coming into the TV. Without HD signals coming in your HDTV is a Ferrari you can only drive up and down your driveway.
So, I dropped a couple of hundred bucks on a Direct TV HD setup. HDNET and HDNET MOVIES is amazing, and so are the local channels, but there only seem to be about 10 channels of HD, and even the HD channels that are there are always showing non-HD programming.
Frankly, I'm really disaapointed with the amount of HD programming... it's lame. However, when something good comes on it is amazing.
ironically, it's the local signals that have the most HD programming... when the fall season starts I guess it will be a lot better.
I heard Direct TV is gonna put up some more birds so they can increase the amount of HD channels.... also, i hear DirectTV is 1000% better than cable for HD because calbe compresses the signal and Direct TV doesn't. anyone know about that?

This is the first new TV I've bought in over 10 years.
It is an LCD which means it's very, very bright and doesn't have burn in problems like a plasma. It has a great viewing angle so you can see it perfectly from anywhere--as opposed to the rear projection sets.
It is 1080p--the best HD you can get. Of course, no one is putting out 1080p signals yet (i.e. cable, video games, etc), so you don't really get to see the power of this set for another year or two.
Netflix is now sending out HD DVD and Blueray DVDs so in another couple of months (after the holiday) I'm gonna buy an HD DVD player--by then there should be one that plays both BlueRay and HDDVD format. (via Peter Rojas)

spent a week here recently... it's amazing. the staff is amazing, the location is old school hawaii and the prices--while not cheap--are reasonable when you compare to Four Seasons madness on the other side of the island. Food was amazing as well, which I found shocking.
