2007 Turley Juvenile Zinfandel

First to recommend

Description

Don't let the name, or the vintage, fool you. This wine was out of this world. An amazing glass of wine that accompanied all eight types of gourmet doughnuts like a champion... I was ready to buy a case on the spot. I've seen it priced from $25.00 to $50 a bottle, so make sure you get a good price!

I'm a big fan of Tempranillos from this region in Spain, particularly 2004 and 2005 vintages. Thanks for the tip about the importer! That's a bit like using ratings to buy your wines... you know, find the reviewer who's palate is most like yours and then buy whatever they like... works for Importers, too!

Wines of the World Monthly Wine Club from Wine.com

Description

I love International wine clubs because they give me a chance to explore wines from regions other than California. It's super easy for me to learn about California wine because I live here and within a few hours of a couple major wine appellations. If I get this club maybe I'll actually learn a thing or two about European wines!

The Pros & Cons of Buying Wine at Cost Plus World Market « GrapeSmart.net

It's hard to find places to buy bargain wines, but World Market (formerly Cost Plus World Market) is working hard to provide good quality wines at great prices. Beware the stinkers though! I recently bought a couple of super-cheap experiments and it was not pretty. (via GrapeSmart)

Olympus Evolt E520 10MP Digital SLR Camera

First to recommend

Description

After taking a bazillion artsy-type pictures with my old Canon point-and-shoot digital camera, I decided it was time to invest in a real camera (that'd be an SLR to you technical folk). Now, from what I remember of photography class, F-stops and apertures were confusing, and I'm not great at getting pictures really focused, so rather than drop an insane amount of money on a camera I might not like using, I chose one a little further down the price-point chain... and I'm thrilled with it. I try to learn a few new features or techniques whenever I use it, but honestly, my #1 reason for loving this camera is that I'm a klutz and when I dropped, zoom lens attached and its regular lens down a rocky hillside, and it tumbled in what must have been slow-motion for, I don't know, at least 30-seconds, the exterior barely got scratched (only the lens hood) and it works perfectly still. It's not a Timex, but it does take a lickin' and keep on tickin'.

This is a great album. One of my all-time faves and a consistent go-to when I want something mellow and soulful playing in the background.

If fake metals aren't your thing, sterling's out of reach, and ceramic won't hold up long enough, try something a little more natural and durable--granite!

I like the organic feel of this one. It feels like it has a story to tell (even though it probably just rolled off an assembly line somewhere).
