What is the next…

Purchase you’ll make?

Hmmmmm. I've been really focused on Christmas shopping lately. Getting it done early is the difference between loving the holidays vs. being totally stressed out by them.

Trend in design?

I think it's making housing and transportation and consumer products that are less poisonous to the environment. Solar power cells are becoming affordable and are starting to be included in purses and backpacks. I think we'll see more use of solar cells across design categories.

Car you’d like to own?

For now I'm quite content with my Subaru Impreza Sport. It's like that thing on Dr. Who--it's bigger on the inside than it is on the outside. I've been amazed by how much I can fit into it. It's also a great car for winter driving, with four-wheel drive and anti-lock brakes. I feel safe in it. Some day I'd like a hybrid.

Big step you’d like to make?

Buying a better house! We're not quite there yet, but we've been talking about building a tree house recently.

Fad that will fade?

I want to say the IPod, but I don't say it with much confidence.

Vacation you’ll take?

My husband's family owns a piece of land with a truly rustic cabin. I'd like for us to spend some time up there. No electricity, no running water, no plumbing. I've been practicing with day trips, and have gotten to the point where I can use the outhouse. (It's the bugs that ick me out.)

Thing you’re going to fight for?

De-stigmatizing mental illness and addiction.

Bush's abuse of power isn't quite a secret . . .

Life you’ll lead?

I'm building a life of self-employment with multiple income streams. Things are starting to pick up a bit.

Fountain of youth?

The basics: eating right, sleeping enough and getting some exercise. (Do as I say, not as I do.)

Book you’ll read?

Right now I'm in the middle of "A Circle of Quiet," a journal by Madeleine L'Engle. I haven't a clue what I'll read when I finish it. Any recommendations?
