About MarissaV:
I am a Port Townsend, WA-based designer, although I started my company, from marissa v. in London where I was living for 6 years. I primarily do babywear and beautiful, casual womenswear, but garnered a lot of press with my "I'm not a smug twat" bag last year. The idea behind the bag was to poke fun at the frenzy behind “must-have” designer bags. Both putting yourself on a waiting list for a £2000 designer handbag and waiting for hours in line to get a £5 “I’m not a plastic bag” seem ludicrous to me – for me, the main point of design is to differentiate myself! I also wasn’t too keen on the thought of environmentalism being turned into a fad – avoiding plastic bags and packaging waste should be a long-term effort.
