Vivienne Westwood Armour Ring (Silver)

First to recommend

Description

O Vivienne Westwood Armour Ring, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways... This ring is so rad I don't even know where to begin. I first saw it in the manga Nana, and then I found out it actually exists, and then I had to have it. It boasts quite a hefty price tag though, and I was a bit leery of buying it without trying it on first. But I lucked out-- it fits perfectly and looks pretty damn cool. The pieces are fitted loosely together, so the ring is surprisingly comfortable, even if your finger is completely curled. I got mine in sterling silver because the gold was a bit too gaudy and the diamante was way too bling-bling. If ordering from Hervia, keep in mind that the listed US ring sizes are a bit off, so go with the mm diameter measurements. My ring size is 6 and the S size fits perfectly. (via Hervia Limited)

PSP Slim & Lite

2 people recommended this item

Description

When I found out that Sony had released the new Slim & Lite PSPs in Japan in new pastel colors I couldn't resist and picked up a blue one. The colors are pastel-y but by no means boring. They're quite classy and have a sort of glittery/shimmery and glossy finish. There's quite a noticeable difference in the weight, and it feels nice in your hands. I have a feeling Sony put out these colors to appeal to the female population but the colors are nice enough that they wouldn't seem weird in a boy's hands. The other new and improved feature of these PSP-2000s is that you can hook them up to a TV, and even watch TV on them. The only complaint I had is that it didn't come with headphones. Though, I guess if I think about it, no other handheld system comes with headphones, does it? (via Play-asia)

Furla turquoise 'Lovers' double french wallet

First to recommend

Description

I've been wanting to get a Furla bag for a while now but I thought I'd test the waters with a smaller item first. This wallet is quite lovely, it has 6 slots for credit cards, and 4 pockets, as well as deep billfold. In fact, it's a bit too deep for my liking since I have to dig down deep just to pull out a couple of bucks. There's also a zippered coin compartment, and the heart-shaped chrome accent makes a plain wallet a cute wallet.

Chooka Tiny Whales Boots

Description

These waterproof boots are pretty darn cute! It almost makes me rue the fact that I live in Los Angeles, where it rains about 3 days out of the year. So, I can't vouch for how well they hold up to heavy use in heavy rain, but I can tell you how sweet they look on my feet! (via Piperlime)

Apple - Wireless Keyboard

13 people recommended this item

Description

When they first released this keyboard along with the new imacs, I hesitated. I like typing fast and hearing the click-clack of keys. It seemed that these shallow keys wouldn't yield the same kind of satisfaction. But as I am a self-proclaimed packrat, I always have a lot of stuff lying around and my computer table is overcrowded as it is without a huge behemoth of a keyboard wasting space. The wireless version of this new flat keyboard is sans 10-key, which I thought would bother me-- but no, after the first day I didn't miss it at all. What I can't get over, however, is HOW slim, HOW compact, HOW brilliant this keyboard is. The shallow keys aren't as loud as the older keyboards, but there's still enough typing satisfaction. It looks fabulous, and it uses only 3AA batteries, as opposed to the 4 the older version requires. Get some rechargeable batteries and you'll probably only have to replace them every 6 months or so (depending on use, of course).

Pure Komachi Knife (Pink)

First to recommend

Description

I don't consider myself a serious cook by any means, but I DO consider myself a salad connoisseur, so when I found myself sawing back and forth with my dull "knife" to slice up some tomatoes I decided something needed to be done. I did some research but ended up receiving this totally cute PINK chef's knife as a christmas present. It looks a little TOO cute, but leave it to those Japanese to make a good-looking tool that's also functional. The chef's knife is supposed to be for MEAT (as the fun cutouts of chickens and cows inside the handle say), but I don't really cut up a whole lot of meat so I've been using it to slice and dice veggies for salads. Apparently this whole line comes in different colors so you can keep track of each knife and what they're supposed to be cutting (to prevent cross-contamination). The first time I sliced a tomato with this baby, I wanted to jump for joy. It's amazing what a difference the right tools will make. It will transform your chopping experience. That said, it does feel a bit thin, but Japanese knives usually are, compared to their western counterparts. And for $25, I'm not complaining! (via kershawknives.com)

Zyliss Salad Spinners

First to recommend

2 people recommended this item

Description

I received this as a Christmas gift and I love it! I've had other salad spinners before, but this one is better. I've had those cheap plastic kinds where you turn the crank to make the basket go round, but the Zyliss spinner is loads better because the outside is constructed of a sturdy plastic. The inner colander part is flimsier but that's to be expected. I've seen the spinners that operate with a push-type mechanism, but there's just something infinitely more satisfying about pulling the handle of the Zyliss. It's sort of like starting an old-fashioned lawn-mower. And you might think that the push-type requires less force but for some reason (the physics escape me) the pull-type is easier to manage. There's also a "stop" button, which is usually standard. Lastly, the Zyliss comes in several different colors: green, orange, red and white. I got the green but the orange seems like it would be equally delicious. It also comes in 2 different sizes. The smaller is perfect for 1 or 2 servings of salad, and the larger will probably dry enough greens for 3-4 servings. (via zylissusa.com)

Boscia Purifying Cleansing Gel

First to recommend

2 people recommended this item

Description

I used to be constantly trying new facial cleansers and moisturizers in the hope of finding that perfect product. My search finally came to an end last year when I discovered Boscia. The first thing that caught my attention about this line is that they are botanical-based and none of the products contain preservatives. Indeed, they even come stamped with an expiration date. My favorites from this line are the face wash and the day moisturizer for oily skin-- even with an SPF15 it doesn't feel greasy. They feel great and have a light, pleasant scent. Price-wise they are a bit more than drugstore brands but nowhere near the astronomical prices the more high-end department store brands charge. (via boscia.net)

Shachihata Emoticon Face Stamp

First to recommend

Description

Let's communication! For $5 you get a silicone stamp that is soft enough for you to mold into different emoticon-faces. It's a simple idea but if you want to add a little final touch to your written correspondence this is a fun way to do it. It comes in a sturdy plastic case and three colors: blue, pink and black (though it looks more like brown to me...). (via shachihata.co.jp)

Mason Pearson Mixed Bristle Brush (BN1)

First to recommend

Description

Paying more than $20 for a hairbrush may sound like insanity to some, and at times I wonder if I'm not insane, but these brushes are quite well-made, and will probably make a nice investment. Have you seen 'Blades of Glory'? Remember the scene where Will Ferrell is talking about his Verticoli? Well I sort of feel that way about my Mason Pearson brush. I opted for the mixed bristle brush because I have pretty thick heavy hair. The nylon bristles may feel a little harsh for people with sensitive scalps but I'm pretty used to running brushes across my scalp so it wasn't a problem for me. I actually heard from someone that Mason Pearson decides the prices of their brushes according to how many boar bristles there are in the brush. So, the smaller the brush, the fewer the bristles so the lower the price. And if you get a mixed bristle or nylon bristle brush there will be fewer bristles compared to a full boar bristle brush so the price will be much lower for those. Anyway, the final word is that post-brush, my hair feels silky and the large size of the brush feels luxurious in my hand, so I do not regret spending $$$ on this brush at all, but it may not be for everyone! I guess it just depends on your priorities. (via masonpearson.com)
