Think Big, that's what Walt used to say, right... eh? Well maybe he said a lot of things, I wasn't there so I should just get on with my recommendation and forget the miss quotes. I'm a big fan of mouse ears, and these are the biggest I've seen. They're so big they make me look like a 4 year old when I wear them, and I get a lot of attention on the street, but the best thing is I can receive transmissions from the International Space Station, and over 200 cable stations including MTV Asia, and African pirate radio.

The music of the Cocteau Twins is such a delightful present from the groundbreaking UK music label 4AD. So sensual in it's sonic texture that thousands if not millions of people played Cocteau albums while making love.

There is much to discover within the liquid-air sound the Cocteau Twins, here within the "Lullabies to Violaine" boxed discs I've reconnected to the Cocteau world which I know very well, what I love about this collection is that it is a greatest hits collection at all. Here let me explain what I mean. The songs of Cocteau Twins are so very personal, with a specific sound which defies the typical music labeling or categorization, featuring unrecognizable lyrics delivered as some strange forgotten language, and sweeping guitar work that is so psychedelic in voice that it often sounds like a state of mind rather than a melodic device. The trust of each Cocteau tune resides in the every tribal sound of their drum work, humming bass lines. And so the fact that the Cocteau's could put out such songs as singles (in the ridged music scene before MySpace, mind you) and create a massive international following that is still growing is astounding. The fact is, the Twins filled a void which the world was hungry to fill. So I'm more than delighted to recommend this singles collection, I believe that the music of Cocteau Twins is and will be as vital now, and in the distant future as it was when it was originally realized.

It's a dance record which begs to be unleashed the new Goth generation, every song is sewn on to tried and true vampire beats, the vocals and lyrics injected with that Human League, Heaven17, Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy bold alpha bat-man speak that calls you to come forth. Yes it's a sound that's been resurrected from the dark giants that came before, yet that is what's so good about "This Is Forever"---like the bite of Dracula it's as instantly familiar as it is contagious.

Les Georges Leningrad is not for everyone, but I don't care, sure it's on the difficult listing cannel, but so is the The Residents record (Eskimo) that inspired "Sur Les Traces de Black Eskimo". I've only seen Les Georges Leningrad twice, and after the first 10 minutes of (what the f*ck is this), I feel in love with them and wanted to run away and join their circus.

When fall comes to town, and long shadows linger, I turn to Siouxsie & The Banshees to inject the cooling atmosphere with songs of hunger, lust, devotion, and fur covered madness. "Hyaena" (among other Banshee albums) a perfect soundtrack for the pre-winter hollows.
