"My music always starts off with jazz, but can end up in any number of places because of all my different influences. I guess I value the freedom to explore as much as the discipline of tradition." –Sachal Vasandani

This guy is a wonderful jazz vocalist. Anyone who has seen him live in NY - well let's just say, its a performance you don't soon forget. If you like Michael Buble, Frank Sinatra, Peter Cincotti, Kurt Elling or Jamie Cullum you'll love this record.

After moving to New York, Vasandani quickly became a part of the jazz scene, and made a musical home in storied clubs like the Zinc Bar. He was also tapped for a number of guest performances and recordings, notably by the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, Wycliffe Gordon, Eric Reed, T.S. Monk, and countless other peer and mentor musicians. (via Mack Avenue Records)

Madeleine Peyroux - “Bare Bones” off the Bare Bones album

2 people recommended this item

Description

Trained off the streets of Paris, Madeleine Peyroux reestablishes herself as a masterful musician and elegant singer with her album “Bare Bones.” I treasured her soothing tone, which flows effortlessly from song to song. I look forward to listening to the songs after Thanksgiving, so I can stay calm during the wild shopping season.

The song “Bare Bones” has wonderful energy, not too hurried and not too slow, that I can work to for hours. And with all the work that goes into the holiday season, can you afford not to download this song? (via www.amazon.com)

: Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks - “A Magician”off the "Tangled Tales" album

First to recommend

Description

Remember Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks? Me Too! Over the years they have released albums that were pretty good, but their latest CD has to be one of my favorites! The beauty about "Tangled Tales" is how harmonious the music flows together. It reminds me of the classic Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks, assembling country and blues' greats like David Grisman, Charlie Musselwhite, Roy Rogers, and Bruce Forman, and others!

What is my pick of the bounty? Download "A Magician," and you'll see why I love it. His natural, folksy voice draws on the instruments and creates a musical experience you don't often see with today's artists. This song is one I will be holding onto for a long time. (via www.amazon.com)

"Winter", Op. 8, No. 4, RV 297 from the Four Seasons: II. Largo Yo-Yo Ma: Vivaldi's Cello

Description

Doesn’t ‘ho-ho-ho’ remind you of Yo-Yo? Tis’ the season to download this brilliant song from the classically trained Yo-Yo Ma. I recommend buying “Winter.” The strings are felt in rich complexity, complimenting any holiday get-together. Each note is as unique as a snowflake, all of which delicately indulge your ears with beautiful sound.

I haven’t always been a Yo-Yo Ma fan, but after adding this gem to my collection, my opinion has definitely changed. This season, download this song and you may become a Yo-Yo Ma fan yourself! (via www.amazon.com)

It wouldn’t be the holidays without Frank Sinatra. One of my favorite songs of his is “Adeste Fideles,” off of his holiday album. Frank gives a classic performance, which is digitally re-mastered and sounds better than ever. His voice will warm your coco and make the holidays fun and festive! Invite the whole family for a listen, and I promise you’ll be singing along with him in no time!

Get this download, because who doesn’t like Sinatra? (via www.amazon.com)

“Mercy” off the"Rockferry" album

First to recommend

Description

Duffy is the singer shaking up the industry. I can't get enough of her voice, which is complex and earthy, highlighted by unusual soul for her age. “Mercy" does the British singer justice, mixing desire and fun into a track anyone can listen to and resonate with.

Reviewer Amaranth "Music Fan" adds her "...ode to sexual liberation is as feisty as Dusty Springfield's "Son of a Preacher Man." She sings with gusto and passion. Duffy, with her retro sound, is an Amy Winehouse without the baggage. Her song is reminiscent of the '60s. One can imagine the bell bottoms, the psychedelia, and the Beatles in their heyday." (Amazon.com)

I totally recommend you download this single, and even the album! (via amazon.com)

Jennifer Hudson – “If this isn’t love” off the “Jennifer Hudson” album

First to recommend

Description

Recovering from the tragic murders of her mother, brother, and cousin, Jennifer Hudson returns with a self-entitled album and a critically acclaimed single, "If This Isn't Love."

Music reporter David Balls remarks "If This Isn't Love' is a delicate love song that finds Hudson in her natural comfort zone. 'God sent me an angel from above, that's going to love me for life,' she sings soulfully, with recent events making the lyrics particularly resonant. Combining modish beats with a cool, breezy chorus, 'If This Isn't Love' ...has an understated charm that's hard to quibble with." (Digitalspy.com)

Listening to the song, I find myself an audience to Hudson's heart. (via www.amazon.com)

Cross The Line: John Legend: MP3 Downloads

Description

John Legend, like the CD title tells us, has Evolved into a terrific musician and artist. Every track takes you on roller-coaster of emotions, passion, and lyrics, thrilling your ears at every turn!

Reviewer S. Smith agrees:
"...I can’t get enough of this album. I sing the songs in my sleep, at work, and in the shower. This is not normal type of album. This album is for people who seek different genres of music and tired of the norm."
(Amazon.com)

I love all the songs, but my personal favorite is the sexy and sultry "Cross the line." His warm voice serenades you with sensuous lines, while a simple melody sets the mood for a romantic holiday evening. Download this song, and you'll definitely agree! (via amazon.com)

WOW! My Parents are gonna FLIP over this record when they get it for Christmas!

This is a star studded, JAM PACKED CD! Check out all the famous musician's on this album!

Even while the Count Basie Orchestra was in the studio finishing work on its Tony Bennett album, A Swinging Christmas, the ensemble’s new album was already taking shape: a salute to such jazz titans as Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Freddie Hubbard and John Coltrane, in addition to such living legends as Bennett, Quincy Jones, Hank Jones, Frank Wess, Jon Hendricks, Curtis Fuller, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock and others.

Mack Avenue Records presents Swinging, Singing, Playing: The Count Basie Orchestra Salutes the Jazz Masters featuring top-drawer performances by the big band and its all-star guest list that includes Jones, Wess, Hendricks, Fuller, Geri Allen, Nnenna Freelon, Janis Siegel, Butch Miles, Rufus Reid and, in a nod to the younger generation that embraces Basie music, sparkplug singer/pianist Jamie Cullum.
