Description
A Vizio from Costco...not a very sophisticated choice, but it sure is easy. Decent value, good performance, zero hassle. Then again, I mostly use if for playing Rockband and GTA, so your milage may differ.

Bonobos Pants- shamdaisies

Description
Green pants. They work every time.
The great thing about Bonobos is that they are long. Even after washing they fit my 36" inseam. One big downside: it's hard to find shoes that look good with these bad boys so I usually go with flip flops.

Garmin nüvi 250 3.5-Inch Portable GPS

Small and pretty cheap. Google maps on my iPhone make the Garmin interface look like someone designed it on the bus on the way to work, but you can't beat real GPS in this small package. I've come to depend on mine.

One of the girls in the office (hi Jamie!) has a crush on the Bonobos founders. I threw both of them out in a dodgeball match. In any case, these are fine pants.
These aren't cheap, but but a nice pair of pants is the kind of purchase that will pay dividends.

I saw these guys at Etech 2008. What an awesome idea, I wish I had them as a kid.
Directing a kid's wandering mind to build cool things is a powerful thing...I grew up to be an engineer and as a kid I was always building things and then blowing them up or lighting them on fire.
If I had had the kind of guidance and inspiration that Howtoons provides, who knows what greatness I could have achieved :)
I'll be getting all my young cousin/nephew's a Howtoons product for birthday/chrstmas/etc this year.

Description
This is a popular book with good reason- the idea is original and could be profitable. If you are the kind of person who likes original science and academic work masquerading as a business book, you'll like this. I loved it and recommend it.
One disappointing thing (I think)- when I first read "Fooled by Randomness", Taleb's wandering style and understated egoism anoyed me. But it grew on me to the point where I was looking forward to that voice when I opened The Black Swan. I'm not sure what happened, but Taleb is all business in this one. He has points to make, stories to share, and he gets it done as economically as he can (which sill tends to be long winded in his enjoyable kind of way). Less of a memoir and more of an essay. Maybe that's a good thing.
