About apegear:

Local Austin artist John Mosteller wasn’t born in Texas but he got there as quick as he could.
As a contributing artist to the ever expanding Austin Art and Culture scene since the late 80’s, it has been John’s passion to share his life experiences with others through various genres of art.
Hairless Ape Design grew out of that desire.

With art and design works encompassing various mediums, John has displayed his artwork at such noteworthy Austin favorites as Amy’s Ice Cream, Lovejoys and Kerby Lane Cafe.

Working with Austin bands, John’s artistic and design creativity led to one-of-a kind promotional materials for their showcases. He has also lent his design talents to various local business owners through the development of custom logos and websites.

John draws inspiration from the various aspects of his life here in Texas such as serving as a soldier in the Army, where he was based at Fort Hood, to working on Sonar Arrays, at the University of Texas at Austin, to troubleshooting computers while at Dell Inc.
John recently spent time designing Blackjack and Poker layouts for casinos on the West Coast as the lead designer for Higgins Enterprise.

In 2006 John turned his creative aspirations to pursue the process of converting his work on canvas into a line of designer pillows and signature pieces for the home.

With Hairless Ape Design’s new projects John hopes to continue to share his love of art with others and expand the definition of design in the twenty-first century.
