This could be a lot cooler if every airport had it; but maybe eventually it would get there.
a 100 bucks a year gets you a special pass to skip the airport security b/c you were prescreened. Not a terrible idea, althought it currently is only used in about 5 airports.

Another reason to be paranoid. Or another reason to get a Mac... but I digress.
With this little USB stick, you can monitor all this:
*View and save an instant screen snapshot of the computer being monitored, any time.
* Monitor all web site access.
* Works with all browsers and web enabled programs.
* Monitor both sides of all "instant messenger" communications.
* Works with all popular IM programs.
* Monitor all email access (SMTP, POP3, IMAP) to see who and when emails were received from and sent to.
* Monitor activities in real time, or retrieve activity logs from recent activity. SnoopStick records everything, whether you are monitoring in real time or not.
* Store up to 12 months of activity logs directly on your SnoopStick.
* All program modules are updated completely automatically so you always have the latest version.
* Send the user a pop up message alert. A good way to tell them they're busted!
* Turn off/on Internet access with the SnoopStick locally or remotely.
* Set allowable times for Internet access.
* Prevent users from using certain types of Internet programs.
* Block access to specified ports.
* Block access to web sites.
* One click "Block Social Networking" option instantly blocks access to sites like MySpace.com.
* Completely secure. Only your SnoopStick can access your computer or change the settings you have chosen.
* Works with Windows 2000, XP, 2003, and is Vista ready.
* New - Now also available on standard, name brand, high capacity USB flash drives.
This could be useful for a parent or someone who has the right to monitor another person. But I would think that anyone who used it to geniunely spy on someone is sort of a creep.

13 captured telephone conversations by Louisa Bufardeci

SO COOL. The website's description says that it "captures the sense of paranoia generated by the idea that anyone could be listening in, anytime." Bufardeci actually has a series of "anti-war" speeches done in the same fashion.
Major respect to the artist, but I think though, that it would be cool to DIY this into conversations with friends, family, etc and hang 'em up on the wall. Sort of a sweeter take on it. (really, i'm not disrespecting the artist! she's so cool! check out her other stuff)

Amy Winehouse - Back to Black

Like a grown up Christina, a sadder Lily Allen, a hipper Norah Jones. Amy Winehouse is simply fabulous and gloriously cool. "Rehab" is the best song on here. Get a free listen of the ENTIRE album at

If you're short on time, then I would recommend just listening to "Rehab". It's a great, great, great, great song.

Not that it's hard to remember the rice ratio, but it's kind of a cool gift for a friend moving out on their own - especially if said friend is of the south asian persuasion (and used to having rice almost everyday!).
FYI: The 1:2 ratio on the cup is what i use for brown rice in my rice cooker. I would only use a 1:1 ratio for white rice :-).

There is simply too much reliance on email these days. This address stamp will get you in the mood to send some lovely notes via the ol' snail mail post. I completely adore this.
