About benuyeda:
I received my Masters in Architecture at Cornell University, and in addition was awarded the prestigious Baird Prize. During my time at school, I gained leadership and real world experience as a co-founder and project leader of the Cornell University Solar Decathlon Team.
After graduation I stayed on to teach as a Visiting Lecturer at Cornell and developed a original curriculum for a course by approaching sustainability as a conceptual construct. In 2005 I relocated to Boston and co-founded Independence Energy Homes (IEH), one of the fastest growing green design firms in the country.
As a Design Principal at IEH, I have led many projects, from large residential developments to off-grid eco-hotels. Through the latter endeavor I worked with the Prime Minister of Dominica to consult regarding opportunities for greener home development within the country.
I continue to teach, now at Northeastern University. Outside of architecture, I have made stunning achievements athletically and creatively. In 1996 I won the USKA Under-18 World Karate Championship, and have also contributed stirring footage to an upcoming documentary on homelessness, entitled A Hole in the Fence (Skeptical Productions).
