Sephora: Cosmedicine Hydra Healer Maximum Strength Moisture Cream: Moisturizers
First to recommend
Description
I'd just about given up on my winter skin this year, so I reluctantly trudged into Sephora, metaphorical tail between legs, and asked them which of their overpriced beauty products would save my face from all the redness and flakiness that was starting to make me look like something that would be exiled from a 13th-century village for fear of contagion. They recommended Cosmedicine's Hydra Healer, and I promptly cringed at the price tag ($75).
But I was desperate, so I said yes. HOLY SMOKES did this turn my skin around. The redness is gone, the dryness is gone, and my face feels just a little bit more "alive" overall. I only use it at night, since the Sephora reps said that it doesn't work too well under makeup (they recommended me a Korres yogurt cream for the mornings) but seriously, this made January all the more survivable.

FitFlops

Description
I've been wearing these for a few days now and they are great. I feel like they give me better support than usual flip-flops, and then there's the whole "fit" thing -- I could be hallucinating, but I'm already noticing differences in the core region. That said, I'm also an avid runner and I eat right; I was looking for toning, not weight loss. I don't think fitflops are going to help you lose 50 pounds, but as a supplement to an active lifestyle, they'll definitely help you feel better in that bikini.

MONOCLE Magazine

Description
This is the ultimate in highbrow reads. It's a (thick!) monthly British magazine, the latest from Tyler Brûlé, which features the latest in global affairs, business, culture, and design. Monocle is intended for a very narrow segment of society -- you know, the types who can see a Norwegian product advertised and then jet off to Oslo the next day to buy it -- but that doesn't mean the rest of us can't enjoy it. Very classy read, highly informative, and with a refreshing lack of celebrity gossip. (via Nate)

Helio Drift

Description
I was seeking to get a high-end cell phone, and everyone kept telling me, "Get a Treo! Get a BlackBerry Pearl!" But I wanted something FUN. So I got a Helio Drift, which is made by Samsung and is available as part of the Helio carrier plan. Sure, it's a "youth-oriented" carrier, but don't let that fool you. This is a great phone with awesome features -- easy access to Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Google Maps, MySpace, AIM, Yahoo IM, and other Web staples, a gorgeous and fast interface, you name it. Plus, it's a gorgeous slide phone with a big screen, GPS, a 2-megapixel camera, 3G mobile Web browsing and Bluetooth. What more could you ask for? Seriously!

FreshDirect is a godsend for New Yorkers: grocery delivery at prices lower than the corner deli or supermarket. One of my New Year's resolutions was to actually cook food for myself rather than just ordering take-out all the time, and FreshDirect is helping with that in a big way. I don't have to worry about going to three or four different stores to find the food I need -- heck, I don't need to make the time to go to any! (via Allie)

Horse Latitudes: Poems (Paul Muldoon)

Description
Paul Muldoon is my favorite contemporary poet; his writing is a beautiful blend of traditional and strikingly modern verse, and plus, he's Irish. If you ever have a chance to see him read or give a lecture, cancel all your plans and GO. You'll thank me later.

My mom gave me this book for Christmas and I've just started reading it -- I love it so far! It's very endearing and unconventional, and I am especially loving the running motif of insects and butterflies. Yum!
