Frog Tape Pro Painters Masking Tape
First to recommend

Description
This brand new painting tape promises "razor sharp edges." I used it this weekend and it delivered. This type sticks less well to very rough surfaces than regular painters tape, but in the majority of situations does a much better job.

Zubbles... The World's First Colored Bubbles!
6 people recommended this item
Description
Ok, I have to have these. Colored bubbles that you blow that don't leave any stains behind (after they dry, like disappearing ink). These look incredibly fun and the story behind them is very inspiring if you are an entrepreneur (http://www.popsci.com/scitech/article/2005-11/11-year-quest-create-disappearing-colored-bubbles)
I think these will be even more fun for adults than for kids.

Sparkle Kits

Description
The projects in the basic electronics kit are much more interesting than the projects in the kit i had as a kid. This is a great way to introduce budding nerds to electronics.
This is also a great gift for grown up geeks -- particularly programmers and gadget freaks that you suspect don't own a soldering iron. (via Boing Boing)

Bodum Pavina Double-Wall Thermo Glasses

Description
Stylish, lightweight and no condensation make this perfect for company and for the glass that is always by your side. I primarily use it to drink cold drinks and it keeps the drink cold without making your hand cold.
Only downside is that these are fairly fragile. You don't want to drop ice cubes in these, I have broken a couple.

Skippy Natural Super Chunk Peanut Butter
3 people recommended this item
Description
I love peanut butter but generally can't stand natural peanut butter (all that oil on the top is just too gross). So when I heard Skippy Natural Peanut Butter doesn't suffer from that and tastes better than regular peanut butter, I was very skeptical.
One year and many jars later (can you call it a jar when its plastic?), this is by far my favorite peanut butter. No reason to buy anything else and no need to worry about trans fat (since this doesn't have any). w00t!

This really appeals to both my sense of humor and my sense of design: all texture, all nuance, very inappropriate.

Stanley FatMax Xtreme Fubar Functional Utility Bar
First to recommend
Description
The Fubar is the ultimate demolition tool with a great name. It is perfect for taking down walls (that is a 2"x4" sized opening on the end), but can be used whenever real demolition is needed.
Not recommended for light, delicate jobs where damage is not intended.

Kauzbots

Description
I saw these at a local trade show (Unique LA) and they were the most popular item at the show. I think every parent there bought their kids one (I tried to, but the time I got there they were sold out). The combination of a cute design and a "choose your cause" charity donation is definitely a winner.

Vanishing Creatures Commemorative Chocolates By Walteria
6 people recommended this item
Description
A step well above the hollow chocolate bunny, some of the proceeds from these chocolates go to protect animals. That's not why I like them though -- I just like the idea of so much care and sculpting going into something that is meant to be destroyed in a few minutes.

Gifts for drummers and wannabe drummers
Updated May 15, 2009
I've been drumming for a year but still fall squarely in the wannabe drummer camp. I can do a decent roll, but can't handle any...
