About Me

I have been a hack musician and music enthusiast for as long as I can remember. I purchased my first DJ system in 1987 at the age of 15 and my first guitar when I was 16...I wasn’t sure who I wanted to be more - Randy Rhodes or Adam Horowitz. I’m still not sure. My adolescence and young adult years revolved around making music and skateboarding with my friends and a lifestyle of finding ramps to ride during the day and shows to hit at night. While I was away at college, many of my friends launched into careers in the music industry, and by the time I got out of school I had a real strong network of friends in the music world. It wasn’t until the late 90’s that I developed a sunglass fetish that would ultimately compel me to learn how to design and produce my own frames. It seemed very natural for me to marry my new eyewear obsession to the music-inspired lifestyle and create a collection of real rock and roll designs for my friends and peers.

What is the next...

Purchase you’ll make?

A Diet Mountain Dew after I finish this interview...nectar of the gods...and calorie free.

Trend in design?

The vintage eyewear look is still strong and getting stronger. It’s such a fun time for eyewear design...there are no rules right now and you can almost get away with anything...look for much more in the area of combination frames - acetate and metal combined. The days of slick, sport frames are gone. It’s game on for Initium.

Car you’d like to own?

1970 Dodge Callenger, thank you.

Big step you’d like to make?

It might be time to settle down...the rock and roll life is making me gray and cranky. Maybe wedding bells in my near future.

Fad that will fade?

Treated denim...hard blue 501s for everyone.

Vacation you’ll take?

I need a golf weekend in Palm Springs soon...or else. I like to stay close to home for vacations because work has me traveling so much.

Thing you’re going to fight for?

Free time.

Secret that’s going to leak?

That my new band, Saint John, is being courted by Rick Rubin as his new pet project.

Hollywood blockbuster going to be about?

How Initium reappropriated the Optigrab and brought it back to market.

Life you’ll lead?

If I play my cards correctly, I’ll have a home on the 18th fairway somewhere and begin focusing on making the PGA senior tour while the next generation of young bucks run the Initium global empire.

Fountain of youth?

Music...namely Iggy Pop.

Pure Drivel by Steve Martin...again.

Thing that will change the world?

Love and Bono.

Guilty-pleasure food in which you’ll indulge?

Girlfriend just brought home 2 boxes of Girl Scout Samoas...shame on me.
