Count Chocula Cereal

Description
At least in theory, isn't this exactly the cereal you want to wake up and eat in the leadup to Halloween? The General Mills redesigns of a handful of classic cereal boxes seems perfectly appropriate this time of year, and the imagery on the packages has a really fun Pop Art feel that I like a lot.

Booberry Cereal

Description
Here's another compelling redesign of packaging for crappy cereal from General Mills. Much as I hate the manipulative branding that goes into hooking kids on sugar through fun and engaging characters -- rendered here in a more up-close and person manner than we're used to seeing from cereal merchandising -- I think this box imagery is fantastic.

Frankenberry Cereal

Description
Indoctrinated as a child into a morning routine filled with granola and fruit, I sort of missed out on the pleasures of sugary cereals, which made the packaging of these foreign treats a little more glamorous while perusing the cereal isle at the grocery store. The magic is still alive for me with this Frankenberry redesign. If one of the real achievements of Pop Art was to destroy barriers between the people and the art (both financially and intellectually), I think this is pretty awesome portraiture.

Description
The real untold story of this presidential election is that while dogs have been granted the right to vote, polling sites will not be altered to accommodate the height-challenged. Get ready for a firestorm of debate in the aftermath of election day, as voter turnout is expected to skew heavily in favor of larger dog breeds.

Go Barack Shirt

Description
It's best to assume that a tee shirt hijacking the Yo! MTV Raps logo for political sloganeering doesn't have to make mush sense. But would it make half as much sense if the shirt supported John McCain?

Science & Sons Park Planters
First to recommend
Description
Accented by a handful of classic Central Park scenarios of degradation, Science and Sons' Park Planters collection is a set of 6” x 6” x 12” ceramic covered pots with surfaces featuring illegitimate public scenes. This one isn't even the most outlandish depiction, but the entire set creates a funny contrast between the delicate white sculptural forms and the acts the figures are engaged in.

ELEPHANT BOTTLE OPENER

Description
It's a little more fun when interesting design has an engaging story behind it. The idea for this Elephant Bottle Opener was apparently conceived when designer Jorgen Moller was on safari in Africa. I want to believe that he saw a live elephant opening a bottle with its trunk and moth, but that may be taking this tale a bit far.

2Juicy 2-Handed Juicer

Description
At first glance, this 2Juicy two handed juicer from Suck UK seems quite a bit more classy than what we're used to seeing from the lowbrow design studio. Stainless steel, classic lines, and utility all come together in this piece. But I can't help to think that there was something quite juvenile and naughty running through the conception of this piece, which fits so perfectly with the brand.

Tattoo Man & Tattoo Lady Doll

Description
Now that half the small children out there have parents with tattoos, this Tattoo Man & Tattoo Lady doll set makes so much more sense. Before tattoos were trendy, they were dangerous. Before that, they were for circus freaks, which these dolls reference. But these are about the cutest circus freaks you can imagine.
