About Me

As a syndicated pet-care columnist and top-selling book author I have been blessed with the opportunity to combine two of my dearest loves -- animals and words -- into a career writing about animals.

I am the author or co-author of the first three books in the “… For Dummies” pet-care line: “Dogs For Dummies,” “Cats For Dummies” and “Birds For Dummies.” Along with my writing partner, “Good Morning America” veterinarian Dr. Marty Becker, I have also written the New York Times best-seller, “Why Do Dogs Drink Out of the Toilet?” We have also collaborated on “Why Do Cats Always Land on Their Feet?” We have three new pet books coming out in the fall of 2007, including “Why Do Horses Sleep Standing Up?”

My work has been honored by many organizations, and my books have been translated into many languages. I live in Northern California in a decidedly multi-species home.
