Kick Ass Karma t-shirt

First to recommend

Description

OK- this is def my next purchase as it is hilarious and I dig the underlying warrior ethos there. Nothing like a little kung fu karma to slay those obstacles of mind and material

Threadless T-Shirts - Loch Ness Imposter by Ross Zietz

Description

I have this t-shirt and love to wear it though I am always a bit surprised by how many people either don't think it is funny or don't get it. Maybe the joke is on me and it is not that funny. Who knows. Regardless, I dig this shirt. Faux-Nessie

René Magritte (Getting to Know the World's Greatest Artists) by Mike Venezia

First to recommend

Description

Mike Venezia's series of art books for kids is awesome! i got a whole pile of his books about my fav artists for my six year old daughter, Kylan. The books explain both the artist's life and the basics of the artist's importance/relevance in plain language my 6 year old can read. He also uses comics to illustrate his points. It is a very unintimidating way to intro your kids to how cool art can be. My daughter has declared that Magritte and Picasso are her favorite artists and she is generally a fan of surrealism though she also likes cubism too.

Highly recommended as the books are fuun for both adults and kids and have obvious merit

Jocelyn Warner: Leaf Metallic Wallpaper

Description

This wallpaper is super-cool and can make a room feel totally different. Almost has some sort of neo-feudal Japan thing going on, like the Shogun's pad in the Matrix.

Sahale Snacks- tasty nutty snacks

First to recommend

Description

I recently discovered Sahale Snacks and they are AWESOME! I love to eat healty food and Sahale's stuff are basically nuts and dried fruits w/a bit of spices added (they do add some corn syrup too which is a bummer but not much of it)

Anyway, I am way into the pistachio Ksar snack: sweet and spicy. Also really digging the Sorocco macadamia and papaya snack.

These snacks are like savory versions of Larabars (which I love but get tired of all sweet all the time)

In any event, if you want something tasty and spicy and healthy, try these sahale snacks. They do have a lot of fat in them but I think that is good because it makes me feel full when I eat some of it and it is generally all good/healthy nut fat so your body digs it too

High Country Kombucha mushroom team

First to recommend

Description

I know, I know, team made by fermenting mushrooms sounds gnarly but it is actually super-tasty and is apparently super-healthy for you too. Known as a "probiotic" food, Kombucha is made out of black tea, a bit of sugar, and a yeast/fungi combo (not a mushroom actually) that all gets mixed together and ferments, taking out most of the caffeine and sugar leaving a naturally fizzing tangy/sweet and slightly vinegary drink. Again, I know, does not sound awesome but I have to say I really love the stuff and like High Country kombucha the best.

Maybe it is an acquired taste but I really look forward to swilling some of this at the end of the day. Does not pack the wallop that vodka does, but is a lot better for me. Plus it gives me a lot of energy and my body now seems to really crave it (in a healthy way, not a compulsive or addicitive way).

Try it and see. Just forget it was made by rotting fungi or maybe remind yourself that wine is made in a not too dissimilar way. Def try the goji berry flavor. Sweet berry taste plus lots of anti-oxidants

Comfortable with Uncertainty: 108 Teachings by Pema Chodron AudioBook

First to recommend

Description

Pema Chodron is was the first American woman to become an ordained Tibetan Buddhist nun and she is one kick-ass lady. She lived a normal life before becoming a nun so she speaks from her real experience w/real life, not a theoretical understanding only. Her main focus on the "warrior bodhisattva" which is basically someone who aspires to be awake during their life. Comfortable w/Uncertainty is sort of a distillation and intro to a lot of her thinking about warriorship and waking up and dealing w/the fact that pretty much nothing other than groundlessness/uncertainty is certain.

If you want to challenge yourself and start to understand one path to happiness, check out Pema's work. She rocks!

DUNE AUDIOBOOK by Frank Herbert

First to recommend

Description

"Fear is the mindkiller." That is one awesome thought and perhaps one of the most penetrating insights in Frank Herbert's incredible sci-fi classic, Dune. I have read Dune 4 times and recently listened to the unabridged audio version which is really quite amazing. There are multiple readers (though sometimes they seem to use a large caste and sometimes just the narrator and I am not sure why they switch back and forth but it does not matter.)

if you want to see what all the hype is about or want to re-visit paul ma'ud dib's adventures among the fremen, sarduakar, and bene gesserit, I HIGHLY recommend this unabridged version. Dune is one of the most prophetic, politically savvy, and psychologically true stories I have ever read, as well as being an ass-kickingly great tale.

Himalania Dark Chocolate Goji Berries

First to recommend

Description

I totally dig the himalania dark chocolate covered goji berries. Tons of anti-oxidants in both gojis and dark chocolate. Plus, of course chocolate is delish. Gojis are also really good too: they are sweet but not overly so and have a vaguely strawberry flavor to them. Supposedly, monks in the himalayas have been munching on goijis to great effect for a few millenia.
