About Me

Writing absorbs me the way certain activities did when I was a child. I’d be playing, drawing, reading (or writing!), and I’d completely lose track of time, forget to eat, forget to leave my room for hours. I freelance from home these days, so I really have to force myself to get out sometimes! But on weekends, I make it happen. My husband introduced me to skiing, which I love, a few years ago. I also like to ride my bike, take dance classes and hang out with friends.

I’d like to see some flip-flops that don’t flop so much. It’s hard to keep them on my feet!

Car you’d like to own?

Actually, I’d love to convert my ’99 Mazda somehow so it would run on vegetable oil. Probably not a possibility, but it’s a dream.

Big step you’d like to make?

Right now, I write mainly nonfiction, but I want to work more on fiction for children and young adults.

Fad that will fade?

Those too-low jeans that creep down in the back. I’ve heard the style is out—so why do I keep seeing thongs?

Vacation you’ll take?

A trip to Quebec City.

I’m planning to raise money for victims of trafficking in Eastern Europe.
