The Art of Noise was definitely ahead of its time. I remember twice playing this album (I had the cassette) in the late '80's for the purpose of getting people to leave my room. It was so different from the mainstream music at the time that it worked like a charm. But it no longer has that effect; now it makes for an excellent ambient mood-setter.
