Terra Plana Shoes
5 people recommended this item
Description
Shoe company based in the UK. I’ve had a pair of their shoes, the Doll, for a year and half, and it’s the most comfortable and durable little black pump that I’ve ever owned. Also garners the most compliments on the street. The company is very transparent about its own approaches to sustainability, community, and business ethics. Their shoes are built with materials like chrome free leathers, vegetable tanned leathers, recycled materials, pure latex soling materials, recycled rubber soles, and recycled foam footbeds.

Poppy Cotton Vintage Fabric Pillow

Description
We just can’t get enough of Melissa Cotton. Melissa has been featured several times on Inhabitat now - most famously as the author of the ever popular How-To-Make-a-Terrarium article that we ran last year, but the girl is more than just a creative green thumb. Melissa also has a line of home accessories that are as playful and inventive as her terrariums, called Poppycotton.
Inspired by the colorful (and slightly creepy) pop-art aesthetic of 1960’s cinema like Rosemary’s Baby and The Stepford Wives, Melissa scours flea markets and vintage stores looking for bold vintage fabrics that hearken back to an era when homes weren’t afraid of a little pop and color. She recycles these unique retro textiles into vibrant pillows, lampshades and wall hangings, creating the perfect colorful accent pieces for an otherwise minimalist room. (via Inhabitat)

Transglass Recycled Vase

Description
TranSglass is one of our favorite recycled-design projects of all time. Contradicting the old notion that recycling in design equals handicrafts made from buttons and popsickle sticks - the TranSglass project proves once and for all that the efficient reuse of waste materials can go hand in hand with haute design. Bahar Shahpar Flower Dress

Description
Bahar Shahpar, the creative mind behind Agricult, is now designing under her own name. She has created a smart collection of neutral solids and colorful prints fashioned into empire-waist dresses, easy wearing chemises, cinched waist shorts and pencil skirts. The empire waist dress in a floral print silk will easily be making it’s way onto the must-have list of several eco-fashionistas. Shahpar continues to incorporate the sustainable practices she developed under the now defunct Agricult into her eponymous line. The collection utilizes organic cotton, bamboo, tencel, Ahimsa silk and vintage trims. (via Inhabitat)
