About Me

I am the editor of ALONE IN THE KITCHEN WITH AN EGGPLANT, Confessions of Cooking for One and Dining Alone (Riverhead). I graduated from Oberlin College and the University of Michigan, where I received an MFA in fiction. I have worked as a reader for The Paris Review, as a bookseller, as an egg-seller, and as an assistant at a literary agency. My short fiction has been published in numerous magazines. I studied cooking at the French Culinary Institute and the Natural Gourmet. I live in New York City.
