Ah, nostalgia! Doug was one of my favorite shows as a kid/pre-teen. I recently found it on iTunes and had to add it to my wishlist. So this shirt, commemorating the 'IT' band of the show...awesome!
"Don't get me wrong, Mr. Bojangles has easily been one of my all time favorite songs for longer than I can remember. However, thanks to a post on Aquarium Drunkard, I'm starting to explore some of his other stuff and it's blowing me away. Bravo sir, bravo!"
"Nothing and I repeat, NOTHING compares or ever will come close to 80s/90s music. It was in a world of it's own, unaccompanied by reality or logical construction. However, from it we get a plethora of bands/songs that we cant deny. One of my favorite of these is the English power pop band, Squeeze. They're all kinda of amazing, but this record features my favorite track, Tempted."
"Sure, I'm obviously going to encourage you to spring for the DVD/CD combo, but if you're unsure, or just poor, check out the album. It's the live recording of one of the most legendary concerts of all time. And, you'll wanna be able to take it on the go with you."
"It just came to me, like in a vision -- a vision from KCRW's mornings eclectic. No, they absolutely didn't play Peaches or anything, but I was randomly reminded of this genius 90s band. And I thought to myself, "Chad, is this the most awesome album of your childhood?" Yes, I think so."
"The problem with having 4,999 recommendations is that it's easy to forget what you've already recommended or to assume that you've recommended something you clearly haven't. Well, somewhere along the mix, this FLips mid-nineties album didn't get a proper nod. I mean, it's not my favorite of theirs, but it's still probably better than everything else you're listening to."
"Recently, I've been going through a bit of an inadvertent Ryan Adam phase and it comes in the form of Whiskeytown -- the prerequisite to his solo career. I has always been a big fan of their 3rd and final album, Pneumonia, but has never really put time into their 2nd. Recently though, i got the deluxe editionof Strangers Almanac and it's blowing my mind of alt country beauty."
"The Secret Handshake is the electronic pop rock music project of Luis Dubuc. Drums that sound straight off Beverly Hills Cop soundtrack? Check. Guitar solo that harkens back to Uncle Jesse from Full House? Check. Tambourines? Check. Fade outs on nearly every song? Check. That nagging feelings that it’s 1995 and you need to hurry home in time for The Wonder Years? Check.
My personal fav from thi..."
"I've been going through a bit of a Belle & Sebastian phase (it's unending, really). So, even though this is their first (and my least favorite album of theirs), i thought it deserved a nod because, well, it's still damn good."
"Is it the best show of all time? Well no, but it's one of them. At least, it's one of the more iconic shows of my (slightly) younger years. So, I think owning the entire series is completely worth it"
