Description
If you live in a house, with a yard, this would probably be a little pointless -- but for you uber-urban dwellers, here's a way to get a little green inside the house. Honestly, the real reason to get this is 'cause it looks cool, and is a much sleeker look than houseplants. Trust me, we tried houseplants in our current place, and it looks like an unkempt mess. This is the way to keep nature inside without it screwing up your entire aesthetic. (via productdose)

Description
If it looks cool and helps you store your stuff, I'm a fan. Modular shelving is especially cool, because it lets you customize just how much storage space you actually need.
A possible drawback to this shelving from Jeff Miller is that it's open -- which, cool as it seems, can often make you feel like you're living in more clutter than you actually are (just because you can see it all the time).
But for an office, laundry room or kids' room, this would be perfect. (via Apartment Therapy)

Description
Here's a fun piece of shelving for the modern apartment. It's a versatile way to contain your stuff, and save a little piece for all the knick-knacks you just can't seem to get rid of.
Plus, I love the way that it organizes everything in the seemingly random, as-needed way that I do!

OK, in practice, this might be kind of annoying. I've had my fair share of cutesy storage stuff around the house, and -- while it looks cool -- they're not worth it if they don't keep your house clean.
That said, if you don't have tons of books, and a relatively empty room, this is a fun way to keep your books in order and fill up the room with something fun. (via Apartment Therapy)

Description
If you're living in a) limited space, or b) an open floor plan, you should look at ways to store your stuff in an attractive way. It'll keep your place free of clutter, and add some fun design elements to the room -- score!
You can get off to a good start with these funky shelves from Bonluxat. Their odd shape probably means they won't be incredibly useful (given the amount of space they'll take up), and they won't look cool in a year or two, but it's a sure-fire way to make a modern home look a little more fun. Description
Especially if you're an apartment dweller, you know the perils of living without enough storage space. Plus, given the restrictions of rental living, you're not always at liberty to hang shelves wherever you think they might look good.
That's where this guy might come in handy. It's a shelving system contained within a little storage shed. I like the minimalist design, and the best part is that it opens out to reveal far more than meets the eye. (via swissmiss)
