Description
You just have to have a set of bendable, pose-able, figure-creating toys on your desk. All the CEO's do it! (Well, the cooler ones.)
Bonzo, George, Jane and Kongo come in their (quite suitable) banana tin case. Their hands and feet contain strong magnets so they can be your own, personal acrobats! And of course their quite limber, able to stretch and twist in all directions. There's even an included guidebook showing some poses to try.

Description
Inspired design for the little ones. Cute, Japanese-style puppets unfold into a regular size bib with a natural and comfortable rubber strap.
Use the puppets to get them to eat, then whip out the bib for the ensuing mess :)

Description
9brand is an extremely refreshing design brand based in Japan. All of their products are based on some component of nature. Attention to details and quality make this small design group one you can rely on.
9brand's latest product is the M.O.C (Make your Own Creatures) system. It's a wonderfully new kid's toy. They produce around 4 different animal like plush dolls. However, every limb, flipper or fin is detachable.
It's based on Evolution - You can take your animal and rearrange him as you wish. Or, buy the other animals in the set and combine them to make interesting hybrids. Super cool.
I've been watching them for awhile and am glad to see a product of theirs make it to the states. Look out for their other stuff as it's all rather cool.

Description
These are fun to play with and require no batteries! It's one of those older type toys, harkening back to the days of marbles, checkers and go fish. A refreshing change from videogames, eh?
It's plenty of fun, and you don't have to understand any of the science to enjoy it. Just thread the string through the rod, roll it up (it's a skill to get it just right) and give a good tug! Then move it around in your hands and marvel at the mysterious forces of nature.
I love the reissued nostalgic packaging.

Description
Ah, Playmobil.....sweet memories of youth....
Sorry. Playmobil sets are made from very high quality plastic (lead free!) that won't break, barring power-tool usage. They come in lots of simple yet imaginative and fun sets, like ships, cars, dentists offices (true!) pirate ships, and the famous knights with their castle!
They are easy and fun to put together and a blast to play with. Really encourages imaginative play - there is so much you can do with all the unique pieces each set has, unlike Lego.
I seem to remember having an operating room set. Many unfortunate insects suffered "accidents" that required immediate treatment in my conveniently close OR.

This looks like fun! Magnets are a blast to play around with and these are super strong. Would make a great gift for a kid, but not one who is going to swallow them...

Description
Kids love to color. Get them this box and marvel at the abstract art they'll produce. Built in sharpener too!
If you have a few unwanted colors (the ones that look like vomit usually) you can make candles out of them! Great for a rainy afternoon. Just melt the crayon, sans peel, in an aluminum tin filled with boiling water.
Have fun!

Description
Every kid is going to need something to make noises. If you don't get them something that will, they're very good at finding more sinister ways to produce their desired cacophony...
I actually tried this at a relative's house (she has a child). I couldn't stop using it! Ok, well I could, but it was fun. Each tentacle of this octopus play a different note following standard keys when you give his leg a squeeze. It even comes with a book of songs that shows you how to play them by color (each leg is a different color).

Latex Color Balloons

Description
Balloons! ALWAYS helium, never air. If you want all the time fun, get a small tank of helium and refill it from time to time (some florists do this). You will also need ribbon; otherwise what's the point?
I always loved tying a few balloons together and seeing how much stuff I could get them to lift. I never managed to get myself airborne though.
Kids can also use them in water fights - the possibilities are endless!

Description
In the warmer parts of spring and the hot summer, children need sprinklers. It's that simple. Have you ever seen one of those things (a child) not run around in glee when the sprinklers go on?
This one is cool cause it blasts water in all directions. But even a regular, old fashioned sprinkler is a great toy.

Description
Blocks! Everyone loves blocks. Or at least they did, before their architectural masterpiece came crashing down because of a stupid, tiny jiggle. Argh.
Every kid should have a set of blocks to create with. Teach them how to make solid foundations and then make them try to say the word 'foundation'.

Description
Klutz makes lots of fun 'books'. They almost always include some cool toys.
But that's besides the point. Every kid/toddler should play with bubbles! Get them 99 cent bubble bottle and wand and watch them squeal. You can get slightly older kids this book and let them make ENORMOUS bubbles. Cmon, you know you want to try that.
