Description
Perfect for putting the essentials right where you need them. The Kangaroo Pocket is a soft, squishy silicone 'cup' with lots of little suction-cup feet on the backside. Attach it to your shower wall, refrigerator, glass, or any other smooth surface. It even has little drainage ports for wet items.

Description
Inspired design for the little ones. Cute, Japanese-style puppets unfold into a regular size bib with a natural and comfortable rubber strap.
Use the puppets to get them to eat, then whip out the bib for the ensuing mess :)

Description
Now this is inspired design. Keep this book on your bookshelf, and when a guest complains that the room is too dark, take it out, open it up and plug it in!
It's quite ingenious - my only complaint is that there is no option for batteries - you still have to have a cord hanging out and plugged into a wall somewhere. This also makes it useless in a blackout, when I think it would be the most fun to use :)

Description
If you look around, you'll find some great Japanese design being created these days. Add to this list the conof. shredder. A may be a simple task but you might as well look good shredding your credit card bills.
The shredder comes in white or a cool moss-like green, and features:
Finger proof design - fingers can't fit into the slot.
Micro Dimaond cut - better than cross-cut, I guess
Shreds CD's/DVD's
Very quiet!
And just look nice and sleek-like. Comes in a cool box too.
It sold in Japan but you can get it imported if you really want it.

Tubelor trash can

Description
Simple design for a simple need.
Most trash cans, no matter how trendy, usually let a slip of their garbage bags peek through the opening - the horror! Tubelor comes to the rescue with a two piece solution available in a multitude of colors.
What's best about this design is the fact that you can use the ubiquitous plastic bag you get at every store in place of a garbage bag. Simply wrap it around the inner tube, put the cover on, and you have a functioning trash receptacle!
Good design doing good things. By Ichiro Haba & Kazuya Koike.

amadana cooking timer

Description
amadana creates very simple yet inspired products. I just love this 'cooking timer', though you can time anything with it.
Simple minute and second buttons allow you to easily set the time. To start the timer, turn it over, just like an hourglass. Small, Tetris-like pixel bricks will slowly fall down, until they fill and reach the top of the screen, when the cool alarm sound chimes.
You can flip it over once the timer has started to see the blocks go in reverse - from a full screen of blocks to a rapidly falling, thinning row of blankness.
It even has a magnetic back so you can easily mount it to your stainless steel refrigerator - which, if you're buying this, you surely have :)
It also has a regular digital time display, but where's the fun in that?

amadana electric citrus juicer

Description
By amadana, Japanese purveyors of clean and functional design, this electric juicer is a compact and handy kitchen tool. It efficiently makes you juice from lemons, oranges, limes - whatever - with just a simple press of the halved fruit to the cone. Each time you press down, the rotation reverses to ensure not a spot is missed.
It features amadana's usual clean, sleek (but not overly so) design, with a metallic cutout handle, tasteful cover, and choice of a pure opaque white or a more zesty (ha! get it?) orange/yellow.
8,000 yen, or about $74.

Multi Color Dolls - by MUJI

Description
You may have heard of MUJI - the minimalist, no-brand-name brand from Japan. They just introduced these stuffed animal dolls and I think they are, um, quite cute. They're made out of recycled yarn so they're somewhat eco-friendly to boot! Would make a nice children's gift or something for the friend who loves huggable things (and who doesn't?)
Personally, I can't decide if I like the Elephant or Dog better. Though the bunny's got a nice smile...

Description
Created by Tokyo based design label D-BROS, 'Hope Forever Blossoming' is a simple, flat vinyl envelope that expands into a fully functional vase as you fill it with water.
It's quite fun to watch the vase take shape, and D-BROS has created them with some simply beautiful color choices and styles - parts of the vases are opaque, while other are transparent - allowing light to pass through and create some interesting refraction patterns.
A cool, slightly quirky, but really quite pretty vase.

Description
An interesting find from Japan. The bowl expands as you add more fruit, making display and arrangement much easier. They call it the 'Trampoline Basket'; I guess if you pushed them down hard enough you could have a fruit trampoline!
I believe this design is still in the concept stage, as I cannot find any suppliers for the item.
