CD/DVD 600 Disc Archiving System

First to recommend

Description

This is a write once read infrequently archiving system. Perfect for creating your ultimate movie/music/video collection. Though they do not state so explicitly it should be no trouble to keep a index of files and use it as a online archive with high seek times. Meaning you could have a 600 DVD online archive of any data with a total possible size of 2.8 terrabytes. Which come to think of it - isn't really cost effective now that hard drive prices are low. Well, it looks cool and would make a great conversation piece.

The price for a hard drive is about 23 cents/gigabyte
The price for a dvd is about 5 cents/gigabyte.

So its still possible for DVD's to be more cost effective, you just need alot of them.

Description

A massive 16 FPGA prototyping engine. The sheer size of this device is stunning, and so is the cost. With 16 Xilinx Virtex 4 FPGAs and a hardy interconnection network this platform is ideal for really serious computations. I hear that a newer version with 16 Virtex 5 FPGAs is in the works. While this board does not have a nominal interface for a PC the daughter boards that accompany it can accommodate almost any configuration. The board is just large... large large large. Who doesn't like having exotic expensive hardware?

Description

Dual link DVI FPGA prototyping board. With a Xilinx Virtex 4 FPGA. Supports two channels. This is an ideal platform to design HDCP algorithms. Real time video algorithm proofing. Along with more simple modifications [Dual link DVI horizontal mirroring, vertical mirroring]. With high speed off board connectors this board can be used either in stand alone mode or integrated into a larger system. Even if only to digital capture raw DVI signals while transparently passing signals through, perhaps for HDCP video capture? DVI input capture. With appropriate main boards can be connected directly to PCI, PCI-X, PCI-E. This device is designed and manufactured by the Dini Group in La Jolla.

PCI Riser 180 degree rotate

Description

This card reverses PCI orientation, that means you can put your pci cards into the machine BACKWARDS. Very handy when you are working the the bottom PCI slot of a vertically orientated motherboard [in a tower] when all the bits you want to get to are facing the table.

Drobo

Description

Hands off hard disk management. Just throw disks at it when it gets hungry, you can leave the nuisance of hard drive management to the magic box. Do not taught the magic box. It won't have great performance, true. It won't be ultra reliable, sure. But.. and its a big but, its data management for the masses. Expandable RAID your grand ma could manage. Just add disks, any size, recovers from errors. Work a gander. Plus Drobo sounds cool. Dr. Obo I presume, ohh what a sour note.

With this little dohickey you can take a USB drive(s) and turn them into a network file server, sans computer. How much cooler can you get? Seriously. Buy this, buy 3. Broad cast the contents of your USB stick to the entire network, live a little.

FlexUSB, USB Adapter, Bends & Rotates, White

Description

A flexible USB connector adapter. This will allow you to change direction of the USB plug by 90 degrees or even flip completely. Ideal for laptops where the USB devices get in the way when actually used on your lap.

Its hard to describe a item like this - USB Flipper, USB 90 degree adapter, and USB inverter all come to mind, but none are really perfect.

How can you not love cheap solid state storage? Sure its Fast as hell, sure its quiet as a mouse, and sure it prolongs battery life, but it has a good side too! These little devils are shock absorbent in the extreme. For those of you who absolutely must render 3D animations while off roading through the Sierra Nevada's at 45 miles per bone crunching hour your non-denominational deity neutral prayers have been answered! No more contrived airplane weave drive suspensions required, now you can toss all your equipment around with abandon.
