About Me

Founded by Jules Dervaes in 2001, Path to Freedom is a grassroots, family operated self-sufficiency project established to promote a simpler, more fulfilling lifestyle based on the principle of stewardship of the earth. These eco-pioneers conserve electricity by using energy efficient and hand-powered appliances, cooking in a solar oven, and generating their own power from 12 solar panels.

In the spirit of bygone days, Mr. Dervaes and his three adult children, Anaïs, Justin, and Jordanne, are working full time toward becoming urban homesteaders on their 1/5 acre city lot in Pasadena, California, which can grow over 6,000 pounds of organic produce annually.
