Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity

First to recommend

Description

This is one of the few time management/personal productivity books I've ever read that's actually made sense. In this case, David Allen was able to explain why my to do list was getting longer by the day, my brain was feeling more and more overwhelmed, and my email in-box was about to implode. (Actually, it did implode a few times, but I'll leave that story for another day.)

In a nutshell, Allen's book maps out a simple strategy for "getting things done" that involves getting those "to dos" out of your head and on to a series of "action" lists. Of course, you have to work the system. No system is maintenance-free.

There are a growing number of Internet websites devoted to the ideas contained in this compelling and idea-filled book -- e.g., DIYPlanner.com, 43folders.com, and LifeHacks.com. If you decide to give Allen's system a go, you'll find plenty of online support and inspiration.

Current (Dish Network channel 196)

First to recommend

Description

My "Current" guilty pleasure.. the Current channel. Totally random "news" and info out there. Everything ranging from male belly dancing to legalized medical marijuana generated through peer-to-peer (hmmm... where have I heard that before? (scratch head) ) networking. Here's what they say about themselves...

about current

Since its inception in 2005, Emmy award-winning Current TV has been the world's leading peer-to-peer news and information network. Current is the only 24/7 cable and satellite television network and Internet site produced and programmed in collaboration with its audience....with what is going on in their world, from their perspective, in their own voices.
...
Current pioneered the television industry's leading model of interactive viewer created content (VC2). Comprising roughly one-third of Current's on-air broadcast, this content is submitted via short-form, non-fiction video "pods". Viewer Created Ad Messages (VCAMs) are also open to viewer's participation.

I think it's awesome fun!

Mossimo Black: Smocked Cap-Sleeve Dress - Gray

First to recommend

Description

Okay, the pic sucks! It realy wears slight off the should with gathered cap sleeves and banded neckline. The model looks like the dress is one size too large for her. The coloring is actually a heathered grey. The rouched mid-driff sits just above your waist and stops just below an empire cut. It's completely lined. The skirt also falls naturally fuller than shown. The pic really sucks. The back bodice has princess seams. Go to Target and try it on. It flatters any body type. You'll fall in love with the dress and the price -- $22.99! You can't get better than this. Oh wait, it could have pockets, that'd be awesome.

IKEA | Lighting | Floor lamps | SAMTID | Floor/ reading lamp

Description

Yes, I know, Ikea. But really, this is the CHEAPEST, stylish, classic, useful, go-with-any-decor, layered lighting, did I say cheap floor lamp around. It can remain an upright floor lamp, and when needed, pulled down and angled for reading or directional lighting. No it's not a halogen, thank goodness. With a compact flourescent light it's efficient too. I own three.

CoverGirl LashBlast Mascara, Black 805

***Update!! Oprah and I live the same mascara. Oprah has declared this the best mascara for Spring 08. We are like this me and that Oprah. ****

I got this mascara as a freebie at NY Fashion Week and who am I not to try out free mascara? I have tried a lot of mascaras in my day so I am not even going to try to crowd favorites or second runner ups but I will say that I really like this mascara. The wand is pretty neat, the black is really black, and it made my lashes look super long. One word of warning is to make sure you don't have too much on the wand or you may end up with spider eyes. I did my first eye perfectly and by the time the second eye came around I was a little dip happy and got too much on this new patented brush. Aside from that this mascara was a winner.
