Description
Red and green is so overdone for the holidays, I mean I love red and gold, green and silver, red and green, and all other permutations , but sometimes it nice to see another color combination (though of course it means everything else has to match). I make a nice Christmas cake and this cake stand would be perfect!

Description
Some how this year I forgot the Christmas pudding. I usually start it around labor day and then let it sit until Christmas. But the time flew by and I was busy and the Christmas pudding wasn't made. Christmas dinner seemed almost empty without the cake-y pudding that is normally topped with a thick rum sauce. I'm severely tempted to order this Christmas pudding and have a second Christmas feast on epiphany.

Why don't you slip into something a little bit more party like (bet you thought I was going to say something else). This holiday sweetheart black dress with rhinestone buckle and rhinestone buttons certainly satisfies that party requirement. The rhinestones will shine, shine, shine as the night progresses. And well, I've always felt a little like Reese Witherspoon in a sweetheart neckline.

If some boy bought me these shoes, he wouldn't have to wrap them, they are already tied in a pretty little bow. Black and high they are the quintessential elegant black heel. Until...until you add in the bow. It's the bow that makes these stand out and the bow that makes me love them even more. Dual toned satin, it's excessive, it's invasive, it's intense.

Description
I had a surprise date (I suppose you could call it that) this weekend and as I dug through my closet for a black dress I hadn't worn recently, I realized while I own lots of party dresses all of them are very specific and I need a nice solid black dress that I can customize and reuse. This dress would divinely suit that purpose. It's a knee length dress with a flattering skirt and boat neck (say hello to my pretty collarbones).

Description
One day I want to wear a full out tartan ball gown to a formal function. Until then think I'll have to settle with this tartan party dress. Being that it's just knee length and is strapless (so you can tone it down with a black cardigan) this dress takes the best of tartan and manages to not make people be overwhelmed with the excess of plaid.

I was ashamed the other night. We opened a bottle of wine and didn't finish it! This rarely happens at my parties, but then again we had a hefty amount of wine before then. Sticking the ugly pockmarked cork back into the bottle I wished for something like this bottle stopper. The red shiny glass bauble corks in style.

Mini martinis are awesome--though that could have just been the pomegranate vodka talking. The red at the bottom of the cocktail glass reflect up through the liquor of your choice (recommended, pomegranate vodka). The handle fits perfectly in your hand making this a nice holiday cocktail glass.

Description
Jewel toned and exotic I saw these plates in an holiday section, but think they'd work just as well outside of Christmas. The turquoise and red with gold accents spices up the basic white plate and gives plenty of options for matching tablecloths. The arabesque design isn't so overwhelming that it dominates the plate and makes you seem too "themed", but is interesting enough it doesn't seem wishy washy.

Christmas brunch is all about being informal, but when the unwrapping of presents winds down. We whirl into action and get ready for Christmas dinner, a formal occasion with multiple courses. This red foil charger is ready and set for Christmas dinner. The shiny nature of it means as candlelight dies down low the plates will reflect and glean.

What is it about winter that make snow flakes so loved and precious? Combining red and white snowflakes these plates deserve to have appetizers thrown on them and be brought out at my next holiday shindig. Thought they say no snowflake is a like and I see a whole bunch of repetition on these plates. Still their primary colordom makes me love them so.

Description
As much as I love green in clothing this winter, it never crosses over into the decorations. The only green that makes it onto my table are the vegetables. This peppermint stripped plate would look fantastic with the rest of my holiday dishes. Christmas brunch at my house is always less formal than the Christmas dinner to follow and the stripping on the plates would keep the brunch light, airy and fun.

Polka dots cross the seasonal border to nicely. Red polka dots are perfect for holiday fare or for a spring time cup of tea. These polka dot mugs are perfect for Christmas morning brunch watching the opening of presents and enjoying coffee in your pajamas. Their quality also ensures that when dropped on carpet, they don't break (well from most heights--what can I say I'm a klutz).

It's a dinosaur. An honest to goodness dinosaur. The fact that you can buy dinosaurs amazes me. This one is even so nicely mounted (though I can't imagine having to move it for dusting). The Psittacosaurus certainly would fill a a niche for that guy that has everything.

I am once again running behind on filling out my Christmas cards. I meant to fill them out this weekend, but other fun things came up. Now I'm a little happy I waited. These cards are to die for. The marabou beard on Santa, the playful tilt of the Christmas tree. These are the handmade cards I dream of making, except they came out better.

My annual Christmas cookie party is coming up just around the corner. One of the cookies we just don't make are frosted sugar cookie. With all the other cookies out there to make and with home many bakeries make gorgeous cookies. These seasonal cookies are a prime example. Their frosting stays within the line, is layered and the cookies have so many delicate (yet not broken) points.

My gingerbread houses are lumpy. When I cheat and use graham crackers instead of baked gingerbread they work far better. However, when I use my homemade gingerbread it make a lumpy misshapen house. A chocolate castle with crystal snow would solve my problems Not only is it far more ornate than any of my gingerbread attempts, it looks like it was just snowed on.

Description
I adore Washington DC, every time I'm there the city just sucks me in spins me right round. The air, the atmosphere, the everything all at once about it gets in your veins and makes you miss it when you leave. This Michael Storring icon reminds me of it. I like the fact that you can't tell whether the sketch was done by someone talented (probably) or by a grade schooler learning about the government for the first time. The whole ornament with it's bright palette just seems so hopeful.

Once when I was little I actually tired to eat fake fruit (I was very young). I wasn't successful, but, oddly, it gave me an appreciation for integrating fruit into decorating. Pears provide an alternative to the sphere and this Jay Strongwater ornament spices up your tree. And there are little crystal sparkles to ensure that no one tries to eat this off the tree.

Description
Green really is one of my favorite colors this season and this year. Golden swirls delicately scroll up the iridescent green ball, bits of shiny crystal accent the flowers in this William Yeoward ornament. It would fit perfectly on a fairy tale tree (in the running for my next proposed tree) or any tree that takes advantage of the season and combines green and gold.
