Description
It might be a bit early to start planning for Christmas, but I say it's never too early! Besides I just saw this star and it's absolutely wonderful It can be hung from the ceiling or placed on the top of a tree. I've never really liked the whole angel tree toper thing and some of the stars I've seen can be so not my style, but this star is absolutely amazing, it's plated in gold (or white gold) to match even more tree styling.

Yes, it's traditional. That's the point. Golden background with red, white and green...it's Christmas incarnate. And while normally I would say it's blatant and a little obvious, it's Christmas!!! Sak's latest holiday ornament makes me rock out to the traditional Christmas beat.

Description
I adore Washington DC, every time I'm there the city just sucks me in spins me right round. The air, the atmosphere, the everything all at once about it gets in your veins and makes you miss it when you leave. This Michael Storring icon reminds me of it. I like the fact that you can't tell whether the sketch was done by someone talented (probably) or by a grade schooler learning about the government for the first time. The whole ornament with it's bright palette just seems so hopeful.

I would have found it more hilarious if juicy would have made ornaments with a fruit theme. But these Juicy Couture candies are pastel and have a fun flirty air to them.. Hard candy in the most literal sense these will dangle delightfully from my pink/purple/turquoise tree.

Shh! Don't tell me that this ornament bears a striking resemblance to tie dye. I hate tie dye. But I love this John Toole ornament, the melting of the pink into green, the hint of yellow and the slight striation pattern..it's to dye for, so to say. ;-)

Description
Once when I was little I actually tired to eat fake fruit (I was very young). I wasn't successful, but, oddly, it gave me an appreciation for integrating fruit into decorating. Pears provide an alternative to the sphere and this Jay Strongwater ornament spices up your tree. And there are little crystal sparkles to ensure that no one tries to eat this off the tree.

Description
Green really is one of my favorite colors this season and this year. Golden swirls delicately scroll up the iridescent green ball, bits of shiny crystal accent the flowers in this William Yeoward ornament. It would fit perfectly on a fairy tale tree (in the running for my next proposed tree) or any tree that takes advantage of the season and combines green and gold.

Description
This ornament just looks luxurious, it looks like it's going to glow and reflect and play the best tricks of the light on my Christmas tree. The gentle sketched snowflake is etched in gold on the red base of the ornament by John Toole. It's a winter wonderland of snowflakes without being too regular in their application.

Description
The is something so soft and vulnerable about this ornament. It's the shimmery pink and gold that transitions throughout the light. And the John Toole ornament is covered in cherry blossoms which are always the harbinger of spring. 11 months out of the year I love silver, but once the holiday season arrives gold appeals so heavily to me.

Description
Everyone likes a nice Christmas sphere, but this Jay Strongwater ball ornament makes the three dimensional sphere that much more three dimensional by studding it with crystals and having a tiny flying creature alight on the outside of the ornament The color of rose-ish pink with it's gold undertones seems so sumptuous. I like the action implied in this ornament too, it's as if Strongwater is trying to bring in the fourth dimension.

Peppermint. Be it pink peppermint, green peppermint or candy canes when the first snow hits the ground I go searching for it. Description
Chasing butterflies was seen in so many movies, but at least I never lived in a place where you actually could. These sparkle-y pink butterfly ornaments let you get in touch with your inner child and chase them all around your tree. Normally, although I like sparkle and shine, I'm not a big glitter fan. But this outlining in glitter contrasts nicely with the pink and add a slightly youthful reminiscence. Perfect for that be a child again/fairy tale tree.

I'm already trying to find room on my pink Christmas tree of these shiny faceted pink ornaments by Martha Stewart. They consist of two of my more favorite shades of pink, a cold cotton candy bubblegum and a warm fairy tale bright pink. With their faceted sides the light will reflect off them so prettily. Plus, they are shiny!

Description
Enchanted forests, mystical beasts, and great towers of which princes have to retrieve their princesses. I may live in the modern world, but give me something that appeals to my inner little princess and I'm five years olds again. This forest fern ball ornament by martha stewart reminds of forest where fauns are hidden around every corner and where victory was just a quest away. The ornaments are just light enough that they won't completely blend in with the tree and yet not so garishly green that they make the viewer look for something unseen.

Description
They probably aren't, but I like to think of the figurines on this Wedgewood teapot ornament as the muses. Maybe Euterpe, Terpsichore and Polyhymnia? The girls on the teapot look so happy and slightly ethereal. I know they say that Greek statues used to be painted and the paint just wore off, but I like the effect an all white statuette has and it is used to a definite advantage on blue and cream.

One grecian urn, two grecian urns. Who didn't love the music man, and who doesn't enjoy john keats? Again the classic creamy light blue and cream of wedgewood combine, this time into an ornament that I like to think of as an ode to grecian urns. The ball shape of the Wedgewood Icon ornament will help it balance out any non traditional shapes that may make it onto the Christmas tree, as there is just something pleasing about a sphere.

Description
Ooh! Another item to add to the blue and white Wedgewood tree. What better ornament to remind me of tea time with my grandmother than a cup and saucer just like the one she had. Christmas is a time for nostalgia and Christmas trees are the stage upon which you build the tangible representation of your memories. I like the Wedgewood blue cup and saucer because though it looks fragile it is strong (though don't go dropping it on the floor!) and there is something about the creamy light blue and white color combination that I adore.

When looking for a less poisonous version of the poinsettia for the house I came across this ornament that combines the my love of Christmas flowers with my love of the sparkle. The Swarovski poinsettia ornament will make a perfect addition to my red/gold tree, bringing in the flower look that I crave and the sparkling in response to the lights like I desire. Nestled near the base of the tree it might even look positively icy,.

Description
When decorating my burgundy and gold tree this year I noticed that it looked more spartan than I remembered. Eager to remedy that I went on the search for the more ornaments that would add to the tee. When I came across this Waterford red ball I knew I found what I was looking for. My tree already has a lot of shiny ornaments that reflect, but this crystal ball will let reflect some of the light, but also let some of it through increasing the high voltage factor of my tree.

My grandmother had a Wedgewood tea set that as a little girl I was fascinated with and always ran my fingers over. I've been in love with Wedgewood ever since. I've been building a mini tree with blue and white ceramic that this would be a perfect addition to. The delicate outside fripperies contrast so nicely with the solid creamy blue. My friend just bought her first house, I might have to get this for her tree.

I'm debating what my next tree should be. I already have the traditional gold and burgundy, as well as the fun pink and turquoise one. This Swarovski crystal star makes me think and silver and crystal tree should be my next one. The light fractures so beautifully through the crystal and the three dimensional nature will make the ornament pleasant to view from all sides. The black velvet tie roots the ornament to the tree with and adds a buttery black tie in with other ornaments.

Round about beginning of December and trickling in until mid January, holiday cards bring everyone's news and births and pictures for another year. When I was little we taped the cards on a doorframe, now some of the cards are so pretty they need to be displayed on their own. This card tree holds in it's gold scrolling embrace the best of my Christmas cards.

Some days traditional is good. As much as I love over the top shiny, sparkle-y, colorful ornaments on a tree, a tree also needs something solid to ground it. Basic stars (probably in silver) round out a tree and when tucked close to the trunk will reflect the lights.

Green seems to have taken a hold of me this winter season. I don't know if it's the Christmas trees or if it's just that green seems to be everywhere this year. But these ornaments bring the sparkle, bring the pink and bring the green. The strips add some delineation to the solid green which makes this just that much more perfect for hanging on a Christmas tree.

Glass reflects the light so well. And on a Christmas tree, it's all about making it bright. I like how the light shines through this ornament casting that quintessential Christmas-y glow. The multi-colored internals mean this ornament will match many a different type of tree.
