Chance of Flowers by Malin Bengtsson

Updated Apr 18, 2008

1st to recommend

Description

As far as decorative parasols go, I don't think I've seen something this pretty for a while. Yellow and blue flowers bloom all over the umbrella like raindrops would fall. It's a gorgeous design executed in gorgeous colors. It would only be good for sunny days, but with a umbrella like that I'd be willing to take that chance.

Vintage Umbrella

Updated Apr 18, 2008

Description

There is something that always captures my fancy about umbrellas. I don't know what it is, but I love them. I'm totally digging this vintage umbrella in orange and blue. With a floral pattern and orange and blue stripes, it's just the sort of umbrella that makes you stand out a bit from the crowd and it matches my vintage sensibilities quite well!

Spring makes me want to dress in flowers and freshly blooming things. Things like these earrings. The softly colored lucite earrings bring a bit of spring to your ears. With their olive leaves, pink flowers and quartz combine to make drop earrings that won't overwhelm your outfit or you.

Checker Peep Toe Slingback

Description

When I was in 6th grade I took money from who knows where (allowance? babysitting? who knows) and bought my very first pair of shoes. They looked amazingly similar to this checkered peep toe shoes. These shoes are absolutely perfect for spring! I like the very vibrant and fun colors, orange, green and sunshine yellow. Plus with a petite heel, buckled bow, peep toe and a slingback...one can't help but adore them!

Easter Egg Cake

Updated Feb 26, 2008

Description

Because I come straight from church to brunch, I like things easy. And this Easter Egg Cake keeps things simple. It's lemon with lemon curd filling which is a total spring flavor. And it's frosted to resemble the cutest egg from the egg hunt.

Egg Ornaments

Updated Feb 26, 2008

1st to recommend

Description

Back when I was in middle school we learned how to make Ukrainian eggs. These pastel egg ornaments remind me of the eggs we learned how to make that day, but they won't go bad and they'll look adorable on my white Easter Egg Tree. The white patterns against the pastel, make for a nice creamy setting for the first blush of spring.

Park Vogel tweed cashmere bow neck sweater

Updated Feb 26, 2008

Description

Spring might be warmer than winter, but it's still cold some days. And while fashion was never about being sensible...it's delightful surprise when one can be warm and not be bundled to the sky. Plus cashmere is so...spring ready to begin with.

Brunello Cucinelli - Printed Muslin Skirt

Updated Feb 25, 2008

Description

Bigger skirts always seem to be fashionable in the spring. I like this grey muslin skirt from Brunello Cucinelli. As much as I love the miniskirt trend, I don't wear them as all the time...skirts like this can be worn for any age group.

Rozae Nichols - Pleated Skirt Grey

Updated Feb 25, 2008

1st to recommend

Description

I always think of Italy when I see circle skirts. This pleated grey skirt feels like I should be perched on a vespa wearing a big wrap shirt with an insanely large necklace of some semi-precious stones, maybe turquoise? Either way it is just what I want to portray a nice relaxed spring look. Viva la sun!

Acrobat grey linen 'Honeymoon' skirt

Updated Feb 25, 2008

1st to recommend

Description

Grey really is one of those colors that can transcend the seasons. I normally love a darker grey in the fall or winter. But this lighter than air grey skirt is screaming to be worn in the spring. From the way it looks like it would swivel as you walk, to lace lining the bottom. This skirt would totally be a staple of my wardrobe in the spring!

Yoana Baraschi shell cotton pleated tulip skirt

Updated Feb 15, 2008

1st to recommend

Description

What's the one rule everyone learn as soon as they start paying attention to fashion? I'd have to vote for "no white before memorial day or after labor day". I know that there are some winter whites and all, but in general I tend to stick to it (better to be safe eh?). This creamy white tulip skirt looks just like I'd imagine a tulip to if you put in on. It's relaxed, it's casual and it's perfect for spring and summer (after memorial day of course. ;-) ).

Casual Tulip Skirt

Updated Feb 15, 2008

Description

Tulips! This tulip skirt surprises me so nicely, as it actually keeps the rest of the tulip shape. I could see this in the office, it's professional without being staid. I like how it hits just at the knee which gives you plenty of discretion and always you to pair with so much. I know I'd love to see it on casual friday with a nice striped button up shirt.

Akris Silk Mesh Blouse & Tulip Skirt

Updated Feb 15, 2008

1st to recommend

Description

Tulips are the very harbinger of spring. Poking out of the snow, there is something so hopeful about tulips. That's why I love it when the tulip skirts come out. They let you bring a little bit of hope and spring to just about everywhere you go. And this black knee length tulip skirt feels like it can go just about everywhere. It's a subtle tulip shape, so it doesn't make your hips look huge as some bulbous skirts.

Chiffon Pleated Dress

Updated Feb 4, 2008

Description

Spring and summer are all about fun. This trapeze dress spins and twirls and cavorts all over you as you are having fun. I love the accordion pleats, the collar neckline and the absolute fun of this dress. Paired with a chunky necklace it's fun. I might throw, at the very least, some solid tights under it, which allow you to be free as you have fun with the movement this dress is bound to inspire.

MILLY Canary Bow Pencil Skirt

Updated Feb 1, 2008

1st to recommend

Description

Though I wear jeans, I'd be happiest if I could live in knee length skirts day in and day out. This gorgeous canary yellow tweed skirt by Milly is just my style. It has a flattering cut, a nice knee length and those extra little feminine touches (bow and slight flare). This would probably be best with a nice button up shirt or maybe a charming cream cardigan. It's just so pert and pretty!

VOOM Rose Top

Updated Feb 1, 2008

1st to recommend

Description

Remember that scene in '13 going on 30'? The line "flirty and thirty" reminds me of this top. The thing is though that everyone deserves a good cute top. And this cream silk top with baby doll sensibilities and rose decoration definitely qualifies. Though it's silk, I'm thinking it's more casual. Maybe stovepipe jeans or a skinny pencil skirt. It needs something to balance the free flowing casual nature of the top.

KAREN ZAMBOS St. Bart's Dress

Updated Feb 1, 2008

1st to recommend

Description

I think something about spring serves to bring us back to that childlike time of wonder and that childlike appreciation of colors. I never wear so bright and primary of colors as I do when it's the first blush of spring. Something like this Karen Zambos mini dress. It's bright and in primary colors (red and blue). But rather than looking like superman, it looks fun and festive (and like it should be colored in with crayons).

I'd love this dress over a pair of jeans that fight off spring's lingering chill.

Black and White Poppy Field Dress

Updated Jan 28, 2008

1st to recommend

Description

This reminds me of something Blair Waldorf would wear (yes, I adore Gossip Girl). And who could blame me? Who wouldn't want to wear Blair's amazing fashion sense, elegant, old school and seemingly vintage, it's nice to see clothes being appreciated for being clothes. The cut reminds me immensely of the the white eyelet dress from early in the season. The black and white poppy fields feel very mod--and also, very spring.

Red Lillypad Strapless Dress

Updated Jan 28, 2008

1st to recommend

Description

Red is such a vibrant color! And red really is one of my favorite colors year round, but especially in spring. I think it's reminiscent of poppies and that might be why I might be so enamored of it. This long red strapless dress with a gigantic white floral pattern is a stunner in the spring or in the summer. But I think I'd like it best by the side of a pool.

Prada fuchsia patent leather classic pumps

Updated Jan 28, 2008

1st to recommend

Description

I still remember when that Aqua song came out, you know the one. As much as I wished I could say my strong woman self was up in arms about the objectification of women, but even in my innocent high school fervor I couldn't. I found it catchy!

And now the shoes, these beautiful pink plastic (well patent) Prada pumps come. The heel is significantly high while still being low enough for daily wear (unlike my last sky high pair of pink patent heels). The pink is an amazingly bright (so barbie girl!) pink. Life in plastic, it's fantastic.

Yves Saint Laurent orange patent 'Moonlight' ankle strap sandals

I'm in love with orange. It has such a lovely spring feel! Plus with this adorable orange bow, I can't wait to pair this with a skirt, a dress, or maybe even jeans. Orange has such a way of reminding spring, it's bold and festive and super springy. Plus with the dark color I don't have to worry about the silly memorial day rule.

Heart, stars and rainbows, clovers and balloons! Well okay, this purse doesn't have any of those. It actually have butterflies. But with the spring like tableau of butterflies and the brown patent handles, it's a perfect spring bag. I can see stuffed full of picnic delights or out on a pretty day at the farmers market.

Fendi Ruched Dress - Turquoise

Updated Jan 18, 2008

1st to recommend

Description

Hello Turquoise! The model in this picture is wearing this as a dress, it's a little bit short for my taste as a dress. But I'm thinking as shirt it would be perfect! Maybe casual it up with some skinny jeans, and a headband. Or summer it up with a pair of shorts. Or, if you are brave it could be done as a dress. This ruched silk dress from Fendi is absolutely fantastic no matter what way your remix it.

Carlos Falchi Matte Croc Doctor Bag

Updated Jan 18, 2008

1st to recommend

Description

Spring means green, green means rain and rain means an umbrella. For some reason, even though my winter purses can contain themselves. They always get bigger as spring and summer approach. This pink crocodile doctor's bag will totally fit my spring style. It's big enough to hold the wallet, the camera, the blackberry, the umbrella and the makeup. And it's also pink enough to be downright cheerful for the spring season. I'm thinking of accessorizing the purse with a scarf and I'm ready to roll.
