What is the next…

Purchase you’ll make?

I don´t have a pasta machine...crazy, right? That´s my next purchase.

Trend in design?

Bars. They are going to get bigger and wider and able to acomodate more people. More and more people are going to restaurants just to eat at the bar.

Car you’d like to own?

I don´t own a car! I live in New York!

Big step you’d like to make?

I really just want to keep doing what I´m doing...maybe get paid more to do it!

Fad that will fade?

Mega-restaurants will be out the door.

Thing you’re going to fight for?

Supporting the artisans and small farmers is the most important link to quality that we have. That´s more important than organic or local. Those things matter too, but to me,the main thing is small, small, small!

Secret that’s going to leak?

How giant corporate wineries manufacture wine. If people knew what was in it, they wouldn´t be drinking it. Factory wine is going to be exposed.

Hollywood blockbuster going to be about?

Celebrity chefs...in outer space

Life you’ll lead?

I would like to have a little more space, a little more of a garden. I´d like a country house, maybe in France or Italy.

Fountain of youth?

Butter and cream, absolutely!

Book you’ll read?

I´m getting ready to re-read Middle March. It´s my favorite book and I haven´t read it in ten years.

Thing that will change the world?

Disease is really changing the landscape of the world in a really negative way. Just think of what a devastating force AIDS has been in Africa...

Guilty-pleasure food in which you’ll indulge?

I´m going to the movies tonight, so it will probably be Junior Mints. Or I may go for milk duds.
