I'm the community editor for Chow Magazine's Web site
Originally a book editor in New York, I began working on the print magazine CHOW in 2003. I did everything that needed doing for CHOW—putting together events, finding sponsors, writers, and other contributors. I’m now the Community Editor for the CHOW website. A big part of my job is getting people curious about food and creating in them the feeling of discovery and the desire for exploration that I had as I started working on CHOW. Last night I walked out of a movie with a friend and turned and excitedly asked her the question most filled with possibilities I can imagine: “Where should we go to eat?”.

What is the next…
Purchase you’ll make?
I need a new teapot badly and am on the lookout. In the category of want—an itrip for my car.
Trend in design?
Smaller is the new bigger.
Car you’d like to own?
The European SmartCar fits in half parking spaces—in San Francisco that’d be a great thing.
Big step you’d like to make?
Getting the new CHOW.com launched is a big step and I want to get as many people involved as I can. I’d also like to spend a month in India practicing yoga.
Fad that will fade?
Energy drinks.
Vacation you’ll take?
As a longtime fan of Vietnamese food, and goi bahn cuon in particular, my next vacation will definitely be a trip to Vietnam to try the dishes I love in their country of origin!
Thing you’re going to fight for?
I’ve always wanted to fight to get people to communicate with each other clearly, to express themselves in an unencumbered way, and to find joy in connecting with each other. The medium I’m working with right now is food, and it’s a good one for this goal.
Secret that’s going to leak?
Who murdered JFK. Now that Deep Throat’s revealed, it just seems like time.
Hollywood blockbuster going to be about?
Aren’t they all remakes of movies already made?
Life you’ll lead?
I’m leading it now!
Fountain of youth?
Liking yourself is the fountain of youth. And finding joy in the world around you. Antioxidants help too.
Book you’ll read?
Saturday by Ian McEwen. The Omnivore’s Dilemma by Michael Pollan. Slow Man by JM Coetzee.
Thing that will change the world?
For the better—cell phone/video technology. For the worse—genetically modified foods.
Guilty-pleasure food in which you’ll indulge?
So many—coconut macaroons, rice pudding, cowgirl creamery fromage blanc, virtually any dark chocolate I come across.
Person to whom you’ll say, “I love you”?
Julia Child
