About monkeyqueen:
Formerly known as Yanghee Hahn, I was born in South Korean before I moved to the United States at age 27 to study classical music. My various working experiences took me to Washington DC, Honolulu, Hawaii, and New York City, where I became a human rights specialist for NYC's Commission on Human Rights. After 14 years of service, I joined the Korean American Association of Flushing as an activist, organizing multicultural events and photography exhibits towards improving human relations and cultural education.
A few years ago, when I saw the Peking Opera called "The Monkey King's Journey to the West for Spiritual Enlightenment," I realized that the journey and the character of the Monkey King were identical to mine. I then decided to name myself the Monkey Queen as I headed into the second chapter of my life, which has included Freewill Fashions, which are an artistic expression of my environmental activism.
