Tartan Shirt Dress - Fred Perry

First to recommend

Description

I admit, plaid shirt dresses have been in for a while, but really, flannel? I mean, no wonder we called the style "Lumberjack". But, really, if I want to look like a smelly old hermit, I'd rather just to neglect to brush my hair in the morning. Here is a plaid shirt dress done right. We know this because it is done by Fred Perry who can do no wrong. Notice the girlish forest green colour and the prim collar. A bit mod, no? I don't know about you, but I'd rather ride around on motorbikes in fashionably oversized parkas than chop down trees any day.

Converse X Isetan All Star Mastermind

First to recommend

Description

Anyone who's managed to talk to me for more than two minutes (sober, that is) knows that I am a sucker for some majorly bad kicks. However, there is a little known fact that I also really like cool shoes. These Converse x Isetan (a Japanese department store) sneakers are right up my proverbial alley. They have studs, zippers and even a grinning skull on the tongue that will be my best friend until a new pair of cool Converse comes out (i.e. about a week).

STAGE - Ben Sherman

First to recommend

Description

Another reason why Ben Sherman just might be the coolest brand ever: a recent collaboration with rock photographer Ami Barwell has produced a small collection of t-shirts featuring beautiful, bad-ass photos of the likes of Ian Brown and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Paired with Sherman's mod suit jackets and slacks, these could make for a killer outfit.

Oak | costalots sunglasses - oxidized chain link glasses chain

First to recommend

Description

Costalots has, over time, become one of my favourite makes of sunglasses. The designs are great, the quality is sterling, and they don't, er, cost a lot ($96 for these!). These is particular caught my eye: dull coral coloured lenses, clear frames and an honest-to-goodness old lady chain for keeping your glasses handy. That description sounds quaint, but, believe me, bad-assed non-conformist style radiates like sunbeams off these bad boys.

Handbag for Space Travel - Art Editions YAYOI KUSAMA | MOBILE PHONE | iida

First to recommend

Description

This adorable handbag is, in fact, a limited edition cell phone designed by Japanese avant-garde artist Yayoi Kusama. Of the three designs, this is the most affordable and attainable (a limited edition of 1000 rather than 100), although it is available exclusively in Japan.

Dots Obsession, Full Happiness With Dots - Art Editions YAYOI KUSAMA | MOBILE PHONE | iida

First to recommend

Description

One of a series of three mobile phone designs by Yayoi Kusama (I only meant to recommend the one, but they are all so beautiful!). In addition to an adorable cell phone nestled (almost hidden) among the dots inside the box, this box is also an interactive art piece. When you peer through the kaleidoscope-like tube extending into the box, the dots seem to expand forever into space. A preferable universe to exist in. This is artist Yayoi Kusama's favourite piece, and it is available in a set of 100, which are sold exclusively in Japan.

My Doggie Ring-Ring - Art Editions YAYOI KUSAMA | MOBILE PHONE | iida

First to recommend

Description

If I were to ask you what this is, I doubt you'd be able to tell me. Not the whole story, anyways. Certainly, it is a dog. And yes, it is art. But what is not immediately obvious is the fact that this is, in fact, a cell phone. The cutest, most original cell phone I have seen in ears is housed under a lid on Ring-Ring's back. Unfortunately, this phone is only available in Japan in a limited edition of 100, as part of an artist collaboration from iida and artist Yayoi Kusama. Now, fetch!

River Island Sequin Beret

First to recommend

Description

What can I say about the sequined beret? Flashy? Undoubtedly. Stylish? I'd say. This version from River Island has a little "scrunchy" bit around the rim (which means it won't fall off of your head! No constant readjusting! Beret wearers, rejoice: o lala!). Sequined berets look sweet (if a little theatric) in the day, and double as a fantastic night hat.

Faith - ABEEBE Flat

First to recommend

Description

UK brand "Faith" shoes are drop dead gorgeous- and coming from someone who owns a pair or two- dead cheap and dead comfortable. These cuties are the perfect shade of pink (hard to find), with a sweet patent bow at the heels.

ASOS | ASOS Feather Clutch at ASOS

First to recommend

Description

When you think feathered clutches, you think of the 1920s. Which leads thoughts to vintage, then to Salvation Army and the smell of mothballs. There is nothing at all stale about this feathered clutch. Small and sassy (and really! how much genuine sass do you see these days?) this clutch packs a punch, some bills, a credit card, lip gloss and not much else.
