Phonofone II - Limited Edition Black

Updated May 11, 2008

1st to recommend

Description

By now I'm sure everyone has gotten used to the pure, pristine look of the Phonophone II showing up in magazines across the world. So, naturally some of you might be surprised to learn that it has undergone a make-over. Usually in a timeless white, the Phonophone has been designed in black for a limited time! Why? Because (silly) black goes with everything! So, if you've held off on getting this unique, powerless (as in it uses no power except that which plays your iPod or mp3 through it's earbuds) piece of technology because it doesn't match your decor, I suppose now you have no excuse!

Eton FR500 Solar Powered Radio

Description

Solar powered iPod chargers are all well and good, but how 'bout when the clouds roll in right in the middle of the Smell's Like Team Spirit guitar solo? Well, you get just crank up the tunes and keep on jamming, and I do mean crank. This handy device is paired with a hand crank so that music can be powered my muscle as well as by the sun, making this one lean, green, music charging machine. It also functions as an AM/FM radio, and a NOAA weather radio.

Recycled iPod Case

Updated May 3, 2008

Description

I really can't think of anything bad about this iPod case. I mean, it holds your iPod and keeps it safe from all the little scratches and dents caused by everyday life, it comes in two cute colours (green and pink) and best of all, it is made from recycled plastic, cardboard and paper board. Because music and saving the world should go hand-in-hand.

Solio Solar Charger

Description

Teachnology is usually the bad guy in any story about global warming. People make the factories, people burn the fuel and people drive the cars that make the carbon dioxide, yet somehow the technology gets the blame. Now, here is the "OMG!" factor: technology can be used for good instead of evil. (please try to contain your excitement) This nifty little gadget is a solar powered portable device you can use to recharge your mp3 player, cellphone etc. And if eco-friendly isn't your thing, this device can be powered by USB hooking it up to your computer and taking it on the road and will store power for allegedly a full year!

Becky Bones South Bronx

Updated Apr 16, 2008

Description

I know what you're thinking: skulls. And I agree, I mean pirates have been out since what, like 1873. But we can all afford some retro, even if it is in bad taste, and even if the macabre feel of skulls seems ironically juvenile, these shoes are still worth the sacrifice! Becky Bones is a brand that encourages teens (or more likely pree-teens) to be aware of the environment, and 25% of profits go towards grassroots solutions ("like planting trees"). So invest a little money into a passe item, and sport your totally out-of-date Becky Bones (who fell into her towns polluted river while trying to get a water sample). In other (catch phrase-esque) words: spend a little green and save a lotta greenery. (via Journey's)

Friends of Al Eco-Tote, Natural Canvas Detail

Updated Apr 1, 2008

Description

I think I'm getting a little tired of environmental totes. I mean, I love the environment a whole lot, but come on, I don't think that girls should be buying hundred dollar canvas bags just because people refuse to admit that they are no longer the "it" thing. Besides, people should be proud to help the environment for the sake of helping the environment, not because it is trendy. None the less, this bag speaks to me in the voice of the eco-chic. It's cute, adorable and funny, in a "not-laughing-inside-or-out" kind of way. Friends of Al: that we are.

Oops, I Pooped Biodegradeable Waste Bags

Updated Feb 18, 2008

1st to recommend

Description

Dogs are organic. What goes into the dog is (assumably) organic. I mean, half of what you feed your dog looks (and smells) like its already decaying. It only makes sense that what comes OUT of your dog is organic too, right? And as unpleasant a thought as it is, that "stuff" is biodegradable. Then, of ourse, we mess it all up by putting it into a plastic bag that sits for centuries trying to degrade in your local landfill. Oops... I Pooped bags are biodegradable bags to put your dogs "wastes" in. They are made from 100% environmentally responsible material, which means that anything that DOESN'T decay is a residual bacteria beneficial to the environment. "It" happens, even for dogs, so we might as well not make "it" any worse. (via Pampered Puppy)

One of the most gorgeous dresses I'll never be able to afford. Zac Posen's dress is a chiffon backless number in olive green. Falls above the knee and is fastened via a zipper and the back. (via Net-A-Porter)
