WeSC Alp Horn Marshmallow Retro Headphones

Updated Jul 22, 2008

1st to recommend

Description

WeSc (We are the Superlative Conspiracy) over-advertises. I see their ads all the time in every magazine I read, and am always impressed by their ads. Nice PR guy, I guess, and pretty nice clothing. Having seen so many of their ads, though, I convinced myself that I've pretty much seen everything they had to offer. But having visited their website on a whim, I found that one of their coolest items has been kept a hidden gem from their surplus of ads. These are gorgeous! They are retro- futuristic, but at the same time, a fresh design! They are a good quality headphone, featuring "57mm drivers, 60 ohm impedance, a frequency range of 20-20,001hz" whatever that means. All I know is that these are incredibly cute and come in a turquoise/silver colour combo, or a silver/yellow palette.

Amazon.co.uk: Cult Rock Posters: Roger Crimlis, Alwyn Turner: Books

Updated Jun 24, 2008

1st to recommend

Description

Sorry to break to to you, but you're not a kid any more. So rip down all those dreadful posters of yours and decorate your room like a boring, sensible adult. The Pottery Barn is that way. I know it's painful, so here's a little memento to ease the pain: a book of Cult Rock Posters from 1972 to 1982, tracing the evolution of music from pop to glam to new-age and everything in between. Featuring over 200 rare posters, all as torn and creased as they would be if they had been hanging on your wall for thirty years. Everyone from David Bowie to Lou Reed to the Sex Pistols to Blondie is featured in here, as well as commentaries by artists, stars and photographers. So if you miss the blue-tack smears on the wall, black painted walls, and the freakish eyes of a hundred angry rockstars watching you as you (try) to go to bed, then this book might be for you.

Cassette Tape Nano Case: Nano Case: iPod Nano Case

Updated Jun 3, 2008

1st to recommend

Description

I have seen iPod cases like this on the DIY circuit for some time now, but, having the self-motivation and talent of a stoned sloth. So I was very happy to see that someone had finally realized the gap in the market created by lazy people, like me, and has decided to mass produce this product. The someone in question is actually from a company called 'Contexture Design' and the product is actually a real, hollowed out cassette tape. The tape is then given the proper holes for headphones, foam padding, and a plastic protective screen that allows you to access the click-wheel. Note: This product only currently fits generation 1 and 2 Nanos, so any one with a newer model will have to use the old fashioned scissors and glue method (oh well. You really didn't want to keep that old Hootie and the Blowfish cassette, now did you?).

Gretsch Americana Series Guitars

Description

There's been a lot of press about Agyness Deyn and her individual sense of style. From her punky boyish haircut to her over-the-top sunglasses. Love her or hate her, she's recently made a new accessory popular that goes far beyond just what she's been seen wearing. Gretsch guitars has recently released a series of limited edition guitars: the Americana series, featuring old-fashioned western imagery, and sure enough Agyness has been seen toting one of these, the 'Sweethearts' model to be exact. These small, stylish easy-to-carry guitars are functionable as an instrument and as a decoration. Of course no one but Agyness could bring these retro-looking relics of the 1950s into the twenty-first century.

U CAST Podcasting Kit

Updated May 13, 2008

1st to recommend

Description

Radio shows are so annoying. Who really wants to hear some 90 year old DJ drone on and on about what's apparantly "hot" these days with the youngsters followed by five minutes of incomprehensible cell phone commercials. Podcasts are where its at (despite the lameness of the term 'where its at'). With this Podcast kit from U Cast, you can a use a USB microphone, headphones, sound editing software, and easy to follow directions to get your radio show to all the people's iPods and computers who want to hear good, original music without the cellphone plan details.

Well, whether you've been searching for these answers all your life or if you just want a fun read, 'I like Food, Food Tastes Good' will provide you with the answers. This collection of recipes, from appetizers to desert, are left as written by your favourite indie rock band, so not only will you get a look at what it takes (gastronomically speaking) to be a rockstar, you'll also see a side of their personality you might never have seen before.

clockamps : Practice Guitar Amplifier

Updated May 11, 2008

1st to recommend

Description

I was perusing Etsy when I came across a very clever innovation, indeed. It seems that some clever fellow from Liverpool has went about converting IKEA clocks into "attractive, portable 9 volt. battery practice amp/ headphone amps". And attractive they are, indeed! So, if you need something small enough to tuck in your bag or pocket so you can practice your electric guitar (or other instrument) on the road- which you might be quite tempted to do, literally, as this design is just so cute you'll want to show it off- then perhaps Clockamp is your answer.

A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation: The Wombats

Updated May 11, 2008

1st to recommend

Description

If you think that all indie pop is more tegan and sara than the kooks, you haven't heard the wombats. Their blend of poppy catchy lyrics and splashes of art rock make them a band worth listening to! And if you're one of those mainstream-ers who won't touch an indie music album if the cover was made of chocolate, this could totally change your opinion that all indie music is a bunch of drug addicts whining and screaming about the depresion that comes with wedgewood plates (it isn't). My favourite tracks on this cd include 'let's dance to joy division', 'kill the director' and 'moving to new York'

Phonofone II - Limited Edition Black

Updated May 11, 2008

3 people recommended this item

Description

By now I'm sure everyone has gotten used to the pure, pristine look of the Phonophone II showing up in magazines across the world. So, naturally some of you might be surprised to learn that it has undergone a make-over. Usually in a timeless white, the Phonophone has been designed in black for a limited time! Why? Because (silly) black goes with everything! So, if you've held off on getting this unique, powerless (as in it uses no power except that which plays your iPod or mp3 through it's earbuds) piece of technology because it doesn't match your decor, I suppose now you have no excuse!

Switches: Heart Tuned To Dead (2007)

Updated May 6, 2008

1st to recommend

Description

If you are not familiar with Switches- which you should be- you can expect punky/poppy songs with killer catches. I have been listening to them for some months now, and they have quickly gone from virtually unknown among my friends (unfortunately, although they have had a few hits in the U.S. and the U.K. they haven't, except for the occasional playing of "Lay Down the Law", crossed over to Canadian charts) to being almost everyone I know's favourite. I recommend "Drama Queen" and "Testify".

[Takara Tommy] AIR GUITAR PRO

Updated May 6, 2008

2 people recommended this item

Description

Okay, so, what is the Air Guitar Pro? It is a guitar head and neck with pressable fret and cord buttons that plays like an actual guitar using, guess what? Infrared beams. (Interesting, eh?) You can play solo, or play along to preloaded songs like "Are you gonna be my girl?", "Let it Be" and more, or you can plug in your iPod or your computer and play along to those songs. So, you can stop looking like idiots strumming along to 'Joy Division' and start looking like, well, still idiots, but at least there is room for actual talent here.

MFM Pro Skullcandy

Updated May 6, 2008

Description

I hate headphones. Or rather, I hate headphone cords. How do they tangle themselves up like that? You could always go the Bluetooth route, but, that is pretty much the equivalent of writing "YUPPIE" across your forehead. This set of 'phones has a removable mp3 player built right in! No cords! And, as the website says: "The closest thing to injecting your music directly into your head".

Bully Skullcandy

Description

Have you ever noticed how time and music go hand in hand? I mean, come on, from Cher's "If I could turn back time" to the Rolling Stones' "Time is on my side" to that insanely annoying song from 'Rent'. I guess that's because the two are natural partners- time and music, that is. So I suppose it was natural that the two would finally get together and have a beautiful baby: the Bully mp3 watch from Skullcandy. Music to my ears.

Grande Headphones

Description

I love those giant headphones that make it look like you were just sampling some Duran Duran in your local HMV and you managed to wander out and somehow take the headphones with you. I also love how they can look incredibly awesome on one person and incomprehensible dorky on someone else. And I love these headphones! They're bright and pink and scream: "Look at me! I'm over-sized headphones!" I'd wear them even without an iPod attached.

Every thing seems to be getting bigger. Products, I mean. Sun glasses, bags, iPods, cell phones, you name it! This super coll iPod boombox fits the trend! It plays your iPod music, the (good ol' fashioned) radio as well as having a microphone plug! Just imagine rolling onto the beach this summer, carring this thing and blasting your beats wherever you go........ but, i recommend you don't use terms like "rolling onto" or at any point in time using the term "beats" to describe your music.
