Little Birds Salt Pepper
4 people recommended this item
Description
If I don't quit buying salt & peppers, I will have to start calling myself a collector. But THIS is probably the most charming little set I've seen in quite a while. By Dutch by Design, these little ceramic friends sit facing eachother like little lovers on a wire perch until you pluck them out to regurgitate seasonings on your food.
LOVE IT!

SHA-DO light fixture

Description
Can you believe how gorgeous this is? It's a light fixture which comes in a number of patterns so that when illuminated, beautiful shadows are cast on the wall or ceiling where it is mounted. What a great idea!
It's yet another example of how to decorate by doing next-to-nothing -- my kind of project! (via NOTCOT)

Tile Tats, 4" - Tile Tattoos, 4" - by category

Description
What an amazing way to brighten up a boring backsplash, jazzify your jacuzzi, or just add a focal point on any tiles surface!
These "tile tattoos" are inexpensive, come in a variety of cute patterns, go on and remove easily, and are impervious to water. An A+ idea, if there ever was one! I only hope there will be more designs/colors in the future. An excellent alternative to custom tiles. (via NOTCOT)

cock-a-doodle timer

Description
Why are egg timers such a haven for cuteness anyway?
This Anthropologie hen timer is adorable and it will be mine... not just because it's the only thing I can afford from the Anthropologie catalog (although that's the truth), but because the cuteness of this particular timer transcends "kitsch" and lives quite happily in my mind as "just plain cool". Red Poppies Apron

Description
New apron design from Domistyle!
I never thought I'd be the type of gal to actually wear an apron in the kitchen... that is, until I actually started baking. Then you realize it's not just so that you look domestic and hard-working, it's because an apron REALLY HAS A PURPOSE.
And this one in particular is just so cute... (and matches my kitchen)!

Description
OK, let me preface this by saying this hair dryer is not for everyone. My sister hates it. But it's the only dryer I've ever used which doesn't require me to flat-iron immediately after blow drying! I usually have that very time-consuming two-step process every morning, but after visiting my folks and using this dryer (thanks Mom!), I was AMAZED at how straight and smooth my normally poofy, frizzy hair turned out after a simple blow dry!
Try one out before buying, but if your hair's thick, this just might be the product of your dreams!

Offset Bread Knife (8-in.) by Henckels
First to recommend
Description
So after realizing my wedding gift knife block did not include one, I'm taking Mr. Anthony Bourdain's advice to get a good off-set serrated knife. This hasn't been an easy task, as most from reputable companies are REALLY expensive, but here's a Henckels at only $30 with great reviews -- FANTASTIC!
So long, eating loaves of bread like a barbarian!

Rose and Radish Folk Print

Description
Anna Branning & Mara Murphy of Dutch Door Press have offered this gorgeous print for Rose & Radish's 60/40 project which allows the profits from beautiful artwork to be split between the artists and a foundation or charity of their choice.
The proceeds from the sale of this particular print go to Creative Growth, an art center in Oakland that "provides adults with disabilities an environment for artistic instruction and personal expression."
NICE.

AFFORDABLE ART FOR EVERYONE!!
This is a site spawned from a gallery that offers "new, original editions weekly, at ridiculously affordable prices". And after shopping interesting and original pieces at real Chicago galleries for years, I can tell you that this is such a wonderful idea. These aren't poster prints either -- every single print is delivered with a certificate of authenticity numbered by the artist.
Check it out weekly, or better yet, sign up to get notices when the new pieces arrive!
