These shoes are matronly chic.
An oxymoron? Consider the difference when paired with an outfit from Talbots as opposed to an outfit from Anthropologie.

Washed Jack Purcell sneakers

Description
I love the washed Jack Purcells because of their preppy nostalgic overtones. They add retro flair to a pair of jeans or khakis. And because my Dad used to wear them sans socks all summer. When he would mow the lawn they would turn green around the edges and he'd wash them and leave them to dry in the sun.

Puddlejumpers are all the rage at this cute boutique in Georgetown, Washington D.C. These are by far the bestsellers for the kids! How cute are the polka-dots? Each pair have velcro closures.

Merino wool socks - thanks to modern technology that makes wool as soft as synthetics - are hands-down the best at keeping feet warm, dry and comfortable. After being disappointed at the expense vs durability factor in other brands I've been impressed with the lower pricing and higher quality in these socks for running, hiking, biking and just kicking around. They only sell on their website, and launch new styles every few months.

Mountain Sprouts RG Base Hoodie

Description
This was our go-to cover up on sunny days at the beach, at the pool or just running through the sprinklers in the yard. It is made of a silky, stretchy synthetic that offers UV 50+ sun protection so I didn't have to constantly reapply sunscreen during water-intensive activities. I could just slip this on our daughter instead. It is lightweight and can get wet, so she didn't get hot. But at the end of the day the fabric was thick enough to keep her warm. I also like the simple design (as opposed to the surf graphics that seem to cover most rash guards out there). A fantastic, versatile top for water-loving kids.

Mountain Khakis

Description
These are great pants for the outdoorsy, rugged guy. Or for those wanting that outdoorsy, rugged look. The cotton weave they use is substantial but pretty soft from the get-go. They wear like leather, with the fabric becoming more supple over time. Anyone with a guy in their life that likes wearing Carhartts as casual pants should turn them on to a pair of Mountain Khakis.
