Remington Leopard Printed Hair Dryer

First to recommend

Description

A few days ago while I was in Target I stumpled upon this new hair dryer from Remington's Cool Style Limited Edition line of hair tools. This super cute, lightweight leopard printed hair dryer is perfect for basic hair drying needs.

This new line is available exclusively at Target stores and online.

It's also a great gift idea for those that are young and just starting to do their own hair, or the young at heart! Remember, the gift of great hair is the gift that keeps giving... (via Palacinka)

Too Faced LASHLIGHT Mascara

First to recommend

Description

I admit that it was the lights that got me.

I've never tried a Too Faced mascara before, but it seemed like this new tech/beauty hybrid was a great product to start with. The mascara cap includes two small but bright "spotlights" which autmatically turn on which you twist open the top. They allow you to apply the mascara in any location - even the dark, and still be able to see each and every lash.

It's true this a great technology/beauty innovation - but it's not just a gimmick. The actual mascara formula was very impressive. The mascara is very black, thick and silky. I loved the way it applied on my lashes with no clumping. It gave me great length and a LOT of volume (it's more of a thickening formula than lengthening in my opinion).

Even with several coats I got no clumping, and during the day there was no flaking or smudging. My lashes didn't feel hard or stiff, which is another plus in my book (it's such big pet peeve of mine!).

Too Faced has really created an item worth the "buzz" - and it's also a perfect Holiday stocking stuffer for the beauty lover in your life! (via Palacinka)

Urban Outfitters Nail Polish Line

First to recommend

Description

Let's talk about what caught my eye about these little beauties!

The bottles are short, rectangular with a soft black vinyl cap. The shades, (which are even more vibrant in person) were really unique. All the shades are just named by color and number. I picked up Blue 2, Blue 3, Blue 4 & Purple 2 (pictured, left to right above). They also had a wide variety of pinks, oranges and even a few pretty greens to choose from.

The series of blues ranged from a really pretty sky blue with a touch of violet (Blue 2), to a lovely periwinkle cream shade (Blue 3) to a navy with a touch of purple (Blue 4). I also loved the (Purple 2) shade which is a true purple cream. These are all creams formulas with no shimmer, glitter or iridescence.

The polish is a thin/medium consistency which flowed well on the brush, application was smooth and it gave great coverage. With two coats the shades were very close to what is seen in the bottle. The staying power is good for a polish of this price. I would say about 3-4 days with a daily top cop applied.

They are currently having a buy 2-for-$8 deal too! A single polish is $5 each.

I suggest you head over to your closest Urban Outfitters ASAP as many of the shades were going fast and, unfortunately, at this time they ARE NOT available on urbanoutfitters.com (they do offer their exclusive lines of lip gloss and colored mascara online. Happy Hunting! (via Palacinka)

Avril Lavigne BLACK STAR Perfume Spray

First to recommend

2 people recommended this item

Description

You really cannot judge a fragrance solely by the name/bottle/celebrity/color/price attached to it. I feel you have to experience it to really know for sure if it's for you (much like another love of mine, wine).

Case in point - as soon as I heard Black Star was Teen-Friendly rocker Avril Lavigne's scent, it did cross my mind for a second that it would be sweet, sweet, sweet - and probably not that complex.

Well, I was very wrong (see - don't assume!).

This is a scent that young teens/younger women (who are her primary fan base) will probably love, but many other women will also love it because it's really good.

Avril describes the scent as "edgy and feminine in a fun way", and I have to say that really does capture the essence I got from it.

The opening notes of pear were very bright, fresh and clear - which I really enjoyed. There was also a plum note that also came into play early in the scent on my skin, which remained throughout. As time went on I got a bit more of the floral from the hibiscus flower, but mostly it was a light plum/pear mix and I loved it! The dry down is where the "edgy" vibe comes from, in that it's a dark chocolate - which was the perfect mix of sweet and dry on my skin, with just a touch of coconut/vanilla swirled in as well. The lasting power was also very good. While this is perfectly suitable for day time, I also liked it for an evening scent as well.

As for the packaging, I found myself loving it more and more the longer I spent time with it. The pink/black color scheme and "studded" effect with the silver geometric cubes is really fun and different. The shape of the bottle is reminiscent of a few other scents I can think of (and probably you can too), but the shape has a nice twist to the idea in that it's a unique asymmetrical star (which also has a different effect if you look at the bottle from a bird's eye view), and underneath the black cap is a studded silver metal piece which can be slipped on and worn as a ring or as a pendant. Cool! (via Palacinka)

Orlane Light Box

First to recommend

Description

My love affair with the French luxury skin care line Orlane has reached new heights with their at home skin treatment system, the Orlane Light Box.

The Orlane Light box is a luxury skin care system made up of 3 steps: an eye treatment complete with serum and eye patches, a brightening mask and an after mask cream - and best of all the entire treatment takes only 7 minutes!

That means that this was a breeze to use in the morning when I really wanted to take my skin to the next level, or right before getting ready for an event in the evening.

The lucite box contains 1 tube of eye serum, 6 eye patches, 6 pre-measured mask mix packets and 1 after treatment cream. This means that it is a 6x treatment product. (It can easily and safely be shared among friends to split the cost, FYI).

Everything is laid out clearly and organized very well, so I only had to read the directions once and I completely understood the three steps and how to use the products: Dazzling Eye Ritual, Glowing Skin Masque and Evervescent Cream Glow. I began with the eye treatment, and while the eye patches are on, I moved on to mix the supplied powder into the premeasured masque packet, let it foam and then applied it on to my skin.

Since none of the products slip or slide off the face, if you don't have the time to lay down for the 7 minutes, you can certainly take care of other things around the house and multi-task (the usual story of my life!). But if you do have the time, laying down and relaxing just makes this experience that much better...

After 7 minutes, I peeled off the eye patches, and this is where I could really see what an exceptional product this was. My eyes looked brighter, fresher and less puffy. Then I rinsed off the mask and my skin was as smooth as a baby's, again, brighter and completely hydrated. The final product the cream glow, sealed the deal by adding just a tad more moisture and subtle illuminating effects as well. I was literally beaming my skin was glowing so much! :)

This is perfect for normal, combination and dry skin and the products can be edited down to a smaller cosmetic bag or zip lock for a luxurious skin treat while traveling or after a spa treatment as well. This is absoultely an innovative skin care breakthough and without a doubt - "WEP" (Worth Every Penny). (via Palacinka)

Np2 Nail Perfection

First to recommend

Description

I've just discovered a new Nail Polish line - and you're going to love it!

It's called Np2 Nail Perfection and it's a nail polish duo of durable, chip-resistant color base paired with an express top coat.

The colors in the line up are truly unique, edgy and beautiful! There are 32 shades and they are all free of Toluene, Formaldehyde and DBP.

For those of you looking for an easy French manicure solution, they have several mix and match collections with pretty pinks and nudes combined with soft whites.

The two bottles are stacked and easily snap apart so you can mix, match and experiment. This is also a perfect solution for travel!

I have several favorites, such as Atomic, Blue Planet, Cosmic Ray, Hypothesis and Symmetric. I recently got a manicure with a deep, iridescent black/slate grey with a touch of purple called Theory - and I can tell you this is going to be one of the hottest shades for fall! (via Palacinka)

Chap Stick True Shimmer - Fruit Sherbet

First to recommend

2 people recommended this item

Description

I have to admit I haven't really used a ChapStick product since my mother used to buy them along with my soap, toothpaste, etc at the drugstore for me...so it's been a long time.

However, delicious scent varieties + plus my beloved lip finish (shimmer) + inexpensive = a lip balm I want to try!

What's great about ChapStick True Shimmer is that this lipbalm is extremely subtle, giving a beautiful sheen and glow to my lips. When I looked closely, and in sunlight, I noticed the thousands of pretty, tiny flecks of silver micro-shimmer.

These balms go on a soft creamy white out of the tube and with finger application smooth out to a clearer shade. They don't add any additional color, but they work very well over a matte lip stain or lip stick if you are looking for more color for day. Used alone with a neutral lip pencil this can give a very nice "your lips but better" look.

They are not "frosty" or overly sparkly. Nice, pretty and natural lips with the added shimmer is exactly the look I got. Blended Fruit Sherbet was one of my favorite flavors - really authentic with it's creamy creamy mixed berry scent.

The balm was not chalky, waxy or gritty, and very moisturizing and comforting on my dry lips - especially while traveling on dry air planes, trains, etc. I found myself turning to this little gem often! My other favorite is the Tropical version, which is a yummy Pina Colada-like scented blend that will do if you're dieting or can't get to the real thing! (via Palacinka)

Prescriptives Here to Stay 24 Hour Longwear Mascara

First to recommend

Description

Prescriptives has become synonymous with custom blended products - their foundations, bronzers, lip glosses and tinted moisturizers are simply phenomenal in my opinion.

Now I can add long lasting makeup to the list of things that Prescriptives does so well!

The brush is a flexible plastic one with very fine bristles which did an excellent job of separating my lashes and giving very nice, natural length. The formula is fantastic - it did not clump, smudge or flake all day. In rain storms, super humid weather and even through a night or two forgetting to take it off it stayed ON.

The effect this mascara gives is what I would call "naturally enhanced" - long but not super long, thick but not super thick (in other words you won't have the false eyelashes effect if that's what you need). But this is a mascara to definitely have in your collection for travel, warm weather vacations, working out, etc.

As far as removal, as a small price to pay for this amazing formula you must use a very good eye makeup remover at the end of the day. This is a mascara that lives up to it's promise and worth every penny!" (via Palacinka)

Caress Evenly Grogeous, Exfoliating Body Wash, Burnt Brown Sugar & Karite Butter

First to recommend

2 people recommended this item

Description

Caress Evenly Gorgeous Body wash manages to take a scent concept that has been done before in many body care products - the brown sugar/vanilla combo - (although the second scent is listed by Caress as Karite Shea Butter) - and manages to not only make it unbelievably decadent, but combines it with a super moisturizing formula that anyone (even if you're not looking for a drugstore bargain) will love!

With the "whoosh" of these two notes hitting my nose as I opened the cap, I knew that this was going to be a very nice experience, and a very different drugstore body wash. The scent was soft, sugary, but not cloying or containing a fake plastic-y sugar element I've experienced in many inexpensive body care products. The scent is prominent - I certainly smelled it lingering for a while after my shower, but it was so lovely I didn't mind at all.

The texture of the body wash is a fairly thick cream/gel blend. The exfoliating grains, which are sugar based, are very tiny. The exfoliation is very nice and will be appropriate for those of you with more sensitive skin as well. (If you want/need a more intense scrub just combine with scrubbing gloves or a more abrasive scrubbing cloth). My skin was very clean, soft and even better, very moisturized after rinsing the scrub off. I found that I didn't need much additional body lotion afterwards at all, and my skin stayed soft and smooth all day.

The packaging is a like it or hate it affair I admit (the dress on the front is really not necessary in my opinion), but unless you are a real packaging snob, this shouldn't matter very much. You will have to like warm, sweet scents to use this product, but if you do, this is really one of the best and delivers an experience equal to many products which are much more expensive.

Another plus - this bottle is HUGE and should last a few months if used about 2x week. This is a drugstore gem that you don't want to miss out on! (via Palacinka)

Avene Soothing Moisture Mask

First to recommend

Description

Sometimes a beauty product doesn't have to produce "miracles" to still be considered a skincare staple for me.

Avene's soothing moisture mask is perfect for those that have sensitive skin or skin that is usually normal but is acting a little "off kilter" due to dry air, lot's of sun exposure, very cold temps or stress/lack of sleep. It does exactly what is promises: provides soothing, moisturizing relief for skin.

It's milky in consistency and has a pleasant, soft, spa-like light scent. I applied it anywhere from 1- 3x week depending on my skin's needs, after cleansing. I left it on for about 15 minutes at night (or after a full day outdoors in the sun) and then tissued off the excess. My skin really felt like it was "drinking" up the mask.

This really made a difference in any dry/red/irritated/flaky or itchy patches on my skin. After rinsing off my skin felt soft, smooth and much more even in skin texture. This was also great for lessening the redness or irritation from pimples/breakouts in my t zone as well. I found that used more often during a week with breakouts, it completely healed them.
