Description
Many cosmetic lines are featuring more and more beautiful works of art within the actual makeup palette, and this one is truly a stand out creation. This is part of the Lancôme Maharani Jewels Collection 2008. The image etched into the powder is a beautiful elephant, as an ode to India’s culture. The brilliance is that each of the 3 colors in the actual elephant is a beautiful shade that is part of the bronzer. There’s a light pink, deep shimmery gold and deep reddish/orange. The elephant itself is actually “raised” a bit for a nice 3 dimensional effect. The outer compact is a nice Tortoiseshell-brown which works nicely with the theme for this collection.
I used my bronzer brush to swirl all the colors together and just loved the flattering, healthy glow effect it gave me (swatch above gives an idea of what it looks like together). This bronzer had just the right amount of shimmer, the color had very good staying power and best of all, this will work with all skin tones since the three shades work to pick up and enhance all undertones. For those women who have very dark brown complexions, this can serve as a very nice highlighter on brow bones and cheek bones used in conjunction with your blush. This just made me smile every time I wore it. Truly a treasure and will also be a collectors item for sure. (via Palacinka)

Description
If you already love the act of applying makeup, then this will really put a smile on your face!
This cute little blue sponge is a jack of all trades. The sponge is firm upon taking it out of the clear plastic case, so the first thing I did was to the sponge and run it under water, getting it completely wet. It doubled in size and then had soft, pillow-like appearance. Next, I squeezed the sponge out very well so that it was slightly damp. Then I swiped it across my cream foundation and dabbed it first in the mid section of my face near my nose, sweeping it outward towards the edges of my face (cheek, forehead, and chin). Within a minute or two the foundation was dry and the coverage was fantastic. With the sponge I was able to get to all the corners of my eyes and nose.
The top of the sponge is narrower and perfect for dabbing around the corners of the nose, or on blemishes, while the bottom, wider part is what I used to actually apply my foundation on the majority of my face. With the sponge, my foundation looked natural, yet had a very nice med/sheer coverage with a tad bit of a dewy appearance. For my concealer, I dabbed a bit directly under my eye with my concealer brush and then used the top narrow part of the sponge to tap into my skin until it blended seamlessly.
With cream blush, I found the best way to use it was by tapping the bottom half lightly on the blush and then applying in a circular motion on my cheeks. Beautiful! This is a great little makeup tool that I’ll always have in my kit.
Note: Here is a rinsing tip. Try rinsing the sponge after use by letting as much of the makeup wash off as possible with plain water. Then apply a small dab of a simple gel cleanser to clean any remaining makeup from the sponge. It doesn’t come with a storage case, per say, but you can try setting it atop the actual clear case that the sponge comes in to dry. (via Palacinka)

Description
This is a fabulous palette that also works to cut down on the amount of products you need to use/pack to achieve a really nice, sexy “glow”.
I loved the sleek and modern packaging, with a cute little brush included in the bottom compartment. Although when I used it at home I applied with my bronzer brushes. As a nice little touch it also includes the names some of the most glamorous vacation destinations on the front of the pack in bold pink– Monaco, Tokyo, Ibiza, Capri, etc…
The compact has nine color cubes in all: three shimmery powders (gold, chocolate, bronze); three light to medium tan powders with a bit of a peach undertone; and three medium to chocolate brown powders with some gold elements.
The shimmery shades are separated from the matte shades, which makes it very easy to pick the type of look that you want. During the day I tended to use the mat shades and apply the shimmer as a subtle highlight on my cheekbones and as a highlighter on my eyes. At night I would swirl the brush over all the cubes and build up to much more noticeable shimmery bronzed look on my cheeks and my eyes. The texture of all the shades are silky smooth and the lasting power is very good.
This compact will work best for eyes and cheeks up to a Kerry Washington complexion, however, if used just for eyes and as a highlighter this will work on all skin tones, even as deep as Alex Wek, for example. (via Palacinka)

Description
It goes without saying that the design of this eye palette, like many of the YSL palettes, is exquisite, unique and truly beautiful.
But it doesn’t just stop there -- the colors themselves are wonderful and perfect for summer. There are 4 colors in the palette which were inspired by various African terrains. There is a deep chocolate brown (with a touch of eggplant), a true orange (with a touch of rust), a medium creamy yellow shade and a beige shadow. The brown and orange colors are bold, but were buildable if I wanted a more dramatic look. None of the colors has shimmer, they were silky and easy to blend and were a pleasure to play with and combine. The lasting power of the shadows was also good.
I didn’t think I would gravitate towards the orange shade as much as I did. The orange was very flattering and not shocking or over the top in any way. I loved combining the orange all over the lid in a light layer with the chocolate in the crease and as an eyeliner on its own or over my eyeliner pencil. I also liked using the yellow and beige for a softer look. These shades are varied enough with darks, brights and neutrals that it will work with all skin tones as well. There is a lot of shadow in the pan and each is very pigmented. This combined with the beautiful limited edition palette design makes it definitely worth the price. (via Palacinka)

Description
Comb mascaras seem to really work well for me, and this Armani mascara was no exception. Now that I’ve tried this I can never go back. The unique 4 sided comb individually coated every single one of my lashes. It made them super long and defined. I usually look for length in my mascara, but this also thickened in addition to lengthening. The overall effects of this mascara are among the best that I have ever seen.
I loved that I didn’t need lots of coats to build up the effect; my lashes looked magnificent after just one coat. Even better, my lashes also felt light and soft. The staying power was great and it did not flake or smudge at all! The tube design is as sleek and beautiful as one would expect from an Armani product as well. (via Palacinka)

Description
This is a fragrance that is simple, but pleasant in its basic nature. It’s fruity, but equally fresh and pleasant. The initial notes on me were fresh peach – but not the sickly sweet and cloying type of fragrance. It is pale, clean and sparkling. This lasted a fair while. Then I began to get the flowery notes, such as tuberose, freesia, white hibiscus, white woods and orris. And it just got cozier and warmer as the time passed. I loved the tuberose in it in particular.
This fragrance is for the woman who wants "romantic and feminine" more than "sensuous and seductive". While it is girlie, it is not boring, it is sweet and calm and charming. For example, it’s perfect for church, brunch with in-laws, a wedding, and travel. The lasting power is very good (fragrance oil tends to last longer than EDT). I will definitely layer this will the larger bottle for everyday wear however. The roller ball contains the fragrance oil version of the scent. It is quick drying and not greasy, and I loved how I could pinpoint exactly where I wanted the fragrance to go with no muss, no fuss.
No, your eyes are not deceiving you…there is also a lip gloss included, which is a sheer cheery, flattering watermelon/cherry shade which was not too sticky, also had a nice peach fragrance, and looked great on many of our testers as it just warmed up the skin with that nice touch of color. Perfect idea for quick touch ups and travel! This is a very well thought out item with a lovely scent to match! I could not have been more pleased this, which was my first Hilfiger scent. Description
This is a lovely color from YSL’s spring 2008 Pop Romanticism Collection. It’s very true to the color described, as it was a very nice light gray/blue on my skin. A pastel color that did not make me look washed out. The formula was fantastic – light and airy on my skin and the shadow lasted all day without creasing or smudging. The pen applicator was so easy to use and quick too! About two swipes on each lid are all I needed. I sometimes finished blending with a brush, but it is certainly possible to still get a very polished look without it.
Another bonus is it’s also water resistant, so it wears very well in hot/humid weather. I loved pairing this with a soft rose on the cheeks and lips, which worked well for daytime, and with an extra coat of mascara and a high shine gloss on top of the rose lip for an evening look. This grey will work with all skin tones as it’s not a pale pastel; the blue gives the grayness depth that will show up on very dark skin tones as well e.g. Serena Williams – Alex Wek.
I would love to see them expand into even more colors for fall 2008! (via Palacinka.com)

Description
I have never been a big cream-to-powder foundation person (no particular reason, nothing really caught my eye before). However, after trying the Awake Hydro Manage makeup I’ve been converted!
When I applied the cream with the sponge, it actually felt like I was spritizing my face with cool water as the formula settled into my skin! At the same time it felt weightless and silky smooth. It was super quick to apply (with either the sponge or with my foundation brush). An hour after applying the foundation my skin looked flawless, natural and had an unbelievable glow and was moisturized as well. It gave me a sheer, smooth look, but did not look mask like or caked on. I also had no breakouts or dry patches. Note: This foundation gives light to medium coverage, so a fairly good skintone is ideal for this formula.
I recently took some pictures at an event and was really pleased with how great my skin looked with this foundation on. You can keep the case and simply purchase a new cream refill, which is also great for the environment and avoiding waste! This is one of the star products from the Awake line and any woman who wants a natural polished look with skin care benefits needs this. Worth every penny!” A.T.
Note: It is very important that the case is locked (lid/lock mechanism with dial closure which clicks when it’s sealed) after EACH use, or it will dry out due to air exposure.
Compact (includes sponge) and foundation must be purchased separately. (via Palacinka)

Description
This is a sweet, unique color from MAC that I really liked. Strawbaby is a medium sheer coral/ berry pink which looked very light and luscious on my lips. It's not orange/red and it's not overtly pink either, which is great. It applied and wore closer to a gloss than a lipstick and I actually love that it worked as a hybrid. The formula was very hydrating, and the staying power was very good as well.
I also thought the micro glitter within it was fun. (Yes, please note there are some tiny glitter sparkles in this product are actually multi color rainbow- blue, purple, pink & silver flecks). However, I would still describe it as subtle and just fine for a daytime look, or even applied over a deep nude lipstick to change it up a bit, as I often did.
I found this to be perfect for when I wanted to have something on my lips that could look pretty and effortless. As a matter of fact, I was able to apply Strawbaby without a mirror many times when I was rushing and was always confident that it would look great.
I also liked the cute packaging and the plastic decorative sleeve of the Fafi girl over the casing. The Fafi image and logo is really fun! For those of you with darker, more pigmented lips this will still work, but you will still see some of the pigment since it is on the sheerer side. Another great aspect to this color is that it can also be seen as a low-maintenance red which you could wear anywhere and in any season. It’s the perfect versatile color for those of you not really into a true red lipstick. (via Palacinka)

Description
If you are looking for a beautiful coral/pink shade this is it! I think this may be one of the prettiest shades in the whole Fafi collection as a matter of fact.
Hipness gave me a natural, coral/peachy-pink glow (no shimmer) on me. It's very pigmented, so all I needed was a light swipe of the blush (with my mac 129 brush) to give me a beautiful glow.
This is truly a beautiful blush with a nice, silky texture, making it very blendable.
Although it is listed as a frost, I didn’t see any shimmer on my skin (but it does appear there is a small amount in the pan). What I loved about this shade is that it really brightened up my face without calling attention to the fact that I was wearing blush. This will work best up to an Oprah shade.
Since this is limited edition, you may want to double up on this one! (via Palacinka)

Description
I was looking for a really nice pink blush that would “pop” and now I’ve found it! Fashion Frenzy is a matte, pink blush that woke up my whole face. This is very pigmented, so only a light application is needed to get the wonderful results.
Yes, many of you may already have a pink blush (or knowing our Palacinka readers, two or three!) but there is something very different about this one. This is a beautiful intense pink (with no shimmer). It gave me such a nice, fresh, healthy glow. It is very bright in the pot, so for a more subtle daytime look I used a light hand and a very fluffy blush brush. During my review period and even after, I always looked forward to reaching for this one.
For those of you with deeper skin tones (in the Serena Williams range, just a few more layers will still work beautifully since this pink is not frosty. Of course, the Fafi design and packaging are also just adorable. Another lovely product from MAC that is sure to sell out, so run -- don’t walk to pick this one up! (via Palacinka)

Description
I’ve always been very pleased with Clarins skin care, so I was expecting great things from the cosmetics, and it did not disappoint. Sunny Yellow is part of their Spring ‘08 Color Fizz line. In the compact (very sleek, modern and I loved the mirror inside) it appeared to be as sunny a yellow as the name would suggest.
When I applied the color on my lid, I found it very pigmented, smooth and very blendable. It's a great true warm sunny yellow color that really brightened my whole face. On me it showed up as a true yellow on me, but with a touch on gold. I also found that it worked well layered with bronzes and pretty caramel shades to create a soft, pretty look.
I was very impressed with the staying power of this shadow, which was amazing.
This can be applied lighter for a day time look that is quite appropriate for a work setting or more intensely for a more dramatic look in the evening. I also found that this color looked best with a dark brown or brown eyeliner to soften the yellow effect a bit. This color will work best on warmer complexions and up to a Gabrielle Union shade. Description
I’m so glad I’ve discovered the Becca line! This was a perfect introduction for me to this brand and now this is one of go-to lip glosses (and yes I have A LOT of glosses). The shade is a golden brown that has some shimmer (but not glitter). The texture is soft and creamy but did not feel heavy on my lips. It also did a great job of moisturization which I love.
Although this may look like a common brown shade at first glance in the tube, it’s actually quite varied and unique, as it’s a gorgeous coppery brown with the addition of a very slight golden shimmer. It looks darker in the tube than on the lips. I used it alone and I also love it over milky brown lip liner for a delicious caramel/honey tinted mouth. This is also very sexy to pair with a smoky eye at night. This shade will work best up to a Garcelle Beauvais complexion, and if you have a more pigmented lip tone applying a brown lip liner will be necessary to really see all the tones of this gloss. R.K. I am absolutely in love with this little pen! Skinflash is the perfect highlighter/concealer combination. It’s very easy to work with, and I was incredibly surprised to discover that this shade matched my skin as well as this does. A little product goes a very long way.
I don't have dark circles, but I wanted a concealer that did a good job of coverage and a highlighter to open up my eyes. I found that it really did work to brighten up my face. The packaging is exceptional, with a beautiful, elegant design. It’s a relatively sheer, creamy product. It is very easy to use (just a click or two of the pen is needed for a small amount that you will need to work with to come out). I applied it under my eyes, and I also put it on my eyelids. I found that it also it made my eye shadow last much longer.
I used it to highlight the bows of my lips, and the bridge of my nose, the top of my cheek bones and the inner & outer corner of my eyes. The effect is a very pretty natural glow/light reflecting. I didn't find it to be sparkly either.
Note: For those of you who like to apply concealer with a brush, simply twist a small amount put it on the back of your hand and with you concealer blush. If you have very dark circles you will need a more traditional concealer, and then use Skinflash to highlight the eyes, cheekbones, etc. (via palacinka)

My first reaction when using this was "Wow, this actually works!" The exfoliating side performed beautifully, without making my lips sensitive. The lip balm is solid and smooth and doesn't feel waxy or slimy. It got all of my flakes off (my lips have been really chapped lately). It did leave behind a little bit of product, but I just licked it off because it tastes like sugar. I applied lipstick right after using this, and it went on so smoothly! I now use this every day before using lipsticks if I have any flakes. I LOVE the packaging, the tube is adorable. I love purple so it had me at "hello". :) The perfect little mirror that swings out is so 007.
I also like how it's a true lip balm, not sticky or glossy but doesn't have a waxy smell. While many of you know it's easy to exfoliate the lips at home with a face cloth or scrub, I've always found it frustrating when my lips chap or get flaky when I'm out somewhere. That's why I love this product - you can easily and discreetly both exfoliate your lips and moisturize with this single wand. And the flip-top mirror is just too cute and convenient. I also find the product to give me a rosy, natural lip color from the exfoliating side. (via Tarte)

Description
I love that Taylor Pham of Thi Cosmetics has created this top-notch line of products with Asian women in mind! The products as a whole address some of the unique facial attributes and challenges with Asian skin tones and features. The lip gloss was just one of a few Thi products I has the pleasure of trying.
I really like the formula of these lip glosses. They're smooth, non-sticky, feel moisturizing, and have a very light scent (soft like rice milk). The packaging is very chic and are square rather than round which is nice since they don't roll around on their sides. Lan is my absolute favorite perfect for everyday pink shade. What’s great is that it’s not a super pale pink color that disappears against my face, but rather a muted milky pink-apricot color that blends well with my coloring to create a pink lip that looks SO natural and flattering on me. The finish is a nice medium glossiness (not a super-wet look) and is appropriate for any occasion. (via palacinka)

This product has that perfect combination of exquisite packaging, attractive colors and great formulation!
How can you go wrong with this lovely little (super lightweight) golden bullet which has a small mirror built in on the side and two compartments of color which you turn the body of the tube around to reveal. At the top of it all is the lip brush adorned with the YSL emblem. I felt like a glamorous “Bond-Type” of woman every time I applied it!
I used this in the #4 Beige Carmin color which is great for a nice cherry lip (despite the name “Beige”). On one side the satin color is a deep pinkish-red and other color, which provides the shine is a creamy champagne with a nice bit of dimension to it from shimmer.
Since I have more pigmented lips I layered the red heavier for a true red effect, but on lighter lips just a swipe or two will do the trick. The shine is perfect to apply right in the middle of the lower lip for a very sexy effect and can still be worn during the day. The fragrance and taste is a lovely subtle cherry. The colors kept my lips moist and the wear was decent (it won’t last though a lunch, but then that just gave me reason to whip it out again!). I can’t wait to add a few more to my makeup collection! Awesome product! I love bronzers. I used Golden, a definite golden shade with little red/brown tones. I have brown skin with extremely yellow undertones and this shade looks like my skin with a tan (but different than bronzed). It has a little shimmer, not too much, but enough to give the skin a nice dewy look without being metallic.
Overall, the texture is very smooth (even with fingers), it made my skin look silky and very natural, but enhanced. It didn’t irritate my skin or cause breakouts, and the color stayed true during the day when I got a little more oil on my skin. Very nice! This particular shade will work best up to about a Whitney Houston shade, but they have a third darker one, Sunshine, that will work up to an Iman shade (via Palacinka)

Shade #2 was very flattering to my skin tone and was a silky, lovely finely milled powder which I used over concealer and/or my foundation with a big fluffy brush . It did in fact brighten up my skin and made my skin look more fresh and radiant than just normal loose powder due to the clever luminescence. The second way I used it which also gave me really wonderful results was by mixing the powder in my hand with the Laura Mercier Foundation Primer 1.75 oz and then adding the rest of my bronzer and mascara. This was a wonderful trick on the weekends for a more casual yet still fresh faced look! This is a must have product in my makeup routine now. (via Palacinka)

This is a great palette that offers quite a bit! This is Bobbi’s basic black square palette, with two layers of products (Lip colors on top, and the shimmer brick underneath it) and a mirror. There are two each of the Lip Glosses and Lip Sheers. "Pink Mocha" Lip Gloss goes with "Buff" Lip Sheer. They are both beige-y nudes but with different texture and intensity. "Rum" Lip Gloss goes with "Rosy" Lip Sheer. Both areYLLB (Your lips but better) reds. All the colors coordinate, so that you can also layer them as well. The "Tawny" Shimmer Brick has a nice texture. If you blend properly the result is more of a glow than a shimmer.
Tawny itself is this unique rose/pink/peach/bronze color that would goes with many eye shadow colors. Its got every color in there! This will work with many skin tones, up to about an Iman complexion, and is especially for those of you with the warmer undertones (yellow/orange/red). I just loved how it brightened up my face and gave me a lovely sun kissed glow! It’s easy to carry around so it’s great for travel/work/purse. This palette is also perfect for those of you who want to try out some of these new Bobby Brown colors. My only wish it that it also came with applicator brushes. (via Palacinka)

Description
I cannot believe this magnificent bronzer has escaped my reach until now! Nuxe's Bronzing Powder comes in a beautiful, HUGE gold colored metal compact with a mirror, and you get 25 grams of powder (almost an ounce!). It looks amazing on the dresser or vanity (but it’s not for a small makeup or evening bag admittedly). The fragrance is also divine (how many bronzers do you actually look forward to smelling when applying them?), due to the Monoi oil.
The powder comes in one color, a medium reddish/golden brown and goes on a beautiful sheer color that is very buildable. I used a light sweep over on cheeks, bridge of nose, high forehead and chin and blended in. It gives nice warmth to my complexion. There is no shimmer to this, but the package describes "light reflecting pigments" so what you get is a glowy sort of finish...gorgeous...Best bronzer I have ever tried for my yellow undertones. This bronzer is best up to a Gabrielle Union complexion. (via Palacinka)
