I drive a Prius for the obvious reasons (better for the environment, less gas, commuter lane privileges) but have also come to enjoy the bond with other owners… it’s nice to see that there are so many people out there trying to make a difference.

About pankajshah:
As an entrpreneur, I have a proven track record for building companies, and my latest venture, Tonic is my newest success. Tonic is a refreshing company that finds uplifting ways to invigorate and strengthen people’s lives and the planet. Its flagship service, GreenDimes, is already the leader in reducing the amount of unsolicited postal mail and catalogs delivered to U.S. mailboxes. Through Tonic services and products, I hope to change the world a little bit at a time.
Including Tonic, my companies are valued at over $200 million and have been financed by some of the world’s top-tier venture capital firms and corporations. I am the founder and former CEO of 4INFO, the mobile search service for sports, business, travel, local, and entertainment information on your cell phone. During my tenure, 4INFO became the dominant consumer-facing mobile search company through unique distribution agreements with USA Today and other traditional media companies. I have successfully sold part of 4INFO to Gannett in January, 2006. In 2002, I founded MetroFi, the leading provider of high-speed wireless Internet access and a pioneer in the municipal WiFi market. During my three years at MetroFi, I served as CEO and Chief Strategist. From 1999 to 2001, I led retail consumer services and built the e-commerce strategy group at Covad Communications, the only nationwide broadband network. I have also served as an Engagement Manager at Sapient and held strategy positions at Staples and Inacom.
Currently, I serve on the board of directors of Tonic and MetroFi, and serve as an advisor to Chris Blackwell’s Island Trading, theory’s environmental efforts, and several venture-backed startups. I am an avid supporter of Music Rising, a non-profit focused on helping to bring instruments to children. I also consult on mobile, wireless and broadband issues and have been a guest speaker at a number of schools, including the University of California Haas Graduate School of Business. I reside in Palo Alto, California where I enjoy travel, music and sports.
