Now it would be sacrilege to attend the most gentlemanly sport without an original take on the very first sporting tie invented in 1880 by Oxford University students. When rowers took of their boater hat bands and tied them around their necks four in hand to celebrate their win, they accidentally created the first sporting tie. The original colours are, black, red and gold symbolising, ‘out of darkness, through fire, into light’. I had this tie specially made by Michelsons- London tie makers since 1937.

Then in case it gets cold and wet, I have my Burberry Trench Coat, which has changed little in style since its inception by Thomas Burberry in 1901. Its lightweight waterproof and looks great with anything, even me.
